What did school teach you that was blatantly false once you researched it on the Internet? by peetssin AskReddit

[–]Syberduh 1 point2 points ago

It isn't necessarily incorrect to start a sentence with "but," "and," because," etc., but using these words to start sentences does often lead to awkward constructions and prose that doesn't flow as well as it might. I assume it's easier to just ban these words as sentence-beginners rather than try to explain the subtleties of English to grade schoolers. And middle schoolers. And most high schoolers. And a depressing number of college students.

Favorite Planet? by diff379in swtor

[–]Syberduh 0 points1 point ago

No planet makes me feel more like I'm in Star Wars than Tatooine. It's always been my favorite Star Wars planet -- maybe because I grew up in a desert and five-year-old me could easily imagine that Luke's adventures were happening just a few miles from my house :)

What is your most useful tip for your main class? by lotictrancein swtor

[–]Syberduh 3 points4 points ago

Throw it up right after you stealth since it's not on the gcd. That will cleanse any dots before they have a chance to tic and prevent any last-second dots landing on you before you stealth.

What is your most useful tip for your main class? by lotictrancein swtor

[–]Syberduh 4 points5 points ago

Flashbang. Most operatives only seem to use it as an oh-shit-time-to-mez-and-run-away button. Use it on offense. Use it to even the odds when outnumbered. Use it to make the odds even better when you've already got the advantage. Use it to put an entire clump of healers out of commission. Use it every 60 seconds :)

Use your utility in general. Flashbang, sever tendon, debilitate, cleanse. The class has a lot more to offer than hidden strike.

If this is real I'm really surprised that no one discovered it before now.

Video Proof that concealment operatives can be useful in Huttball by Syberduhin swtor

[–]Syberduh[S] 1 point2 points ago

During the second half of the video I do talk about what operatives bring to the table that assassins don't.

In addition to heals, operatives also have a group mez and a spammable mid-range root. I know it's easy to say "meh, I'll take force pull, force speed, and immunity, thanks," (wow you know that actually does sound really good ...) but I've found the skills to be extremely useful.

Please do provide feedback. I definitely don't use toxin scan enough and usually default to evasion which I know is a bad habit. I think I use evasion as a go-to dot cleanse because it's not on the gcd and I get impatient waiting for toxin scan. Maybe I should switch their key-binds so that I'll use toxin scan more often by accident ...

Well at least you shouldn't have any problems with character slots if you want to transfer.

Not when you're the only guard on a node playing a game of cat and mouse with another stealther ;)

It does break stealth in PvP whenever the "convulsion" animation would normally fire. That is highly annoying.

Pubs really don't dominate pvp the way they used to. The best imp premades are a match/more than a match for the pubs' best.

I played netrek for 10 years. You can trust me when I say I enjoy pvp for the sake of pvp.

Really Curious. Is ToR worth getting again? by Phoenix2700in swtor

[–]Syberduh 1 point2 points ago

That's cool. I'm full Battlemaster and I still play a lot of pvp because I find it fun. I'd play for no reward. There are, however, many players on my server who don't feel the same way, so I'm glad that they can find motivation in the WH grind.

Really Curious. Is ToR worth getting again? by Phoenix2700in swtor

[–]Syberduh 1 point2 points ago

This is not "the new system." It's a stopgap so that hardcore pvpers who already had full battlemaster have something new to grind in order to keep them from getting bored.

Once rated WZs come out it will should be much easier to get WH gear.

Best RP server? by Ammers10in swtor

[–]Syberduh 0 points1 point ago

Can confirm frequent RP in the fleet cantina on Vrook Lamar.

Also just to defend imperial honor I must note that in the past month imps have started fielding regular premades that are as good as or better than the pubs' best.

If you'd like to contribute, keep in mind that you don't need any special software to take still screenshots. If you hit the "print screen" button you will take a screenshot that you can then paste into MSPaint with control-v.

The Warzone reward system in 1.2 is pretty good, actually by ceejae47in swtor

Article is out of date. 1.2c WZ rewards are much more forgiving for the losing team.

If you don't let PVP gear be best for PVP and PVE gear best for PVE then you have 3 choices:

  • PVP and PVE gear have exactly the same stats for their respective tiers. Eventually one mode of play or the other will be generally acknowledged as the "easy" way to grind the best gear. People who like the other mode of play bitch.

  • PVP gear has higher stats vs. same-tier PVE. PVE players bitch that the only way to really do the hardest content is to grind PVP gear.

  • PVE gear has higher stats vs. same-tier PVP. PVP players bitch that to be really competitive in PVP you have to grind PVE.

The goal of the current system is to accommodate players who like to play primarily PVP or PVE. The tradeoff for the current system is that if you want to be really good at both PVP and PVE you have to play a lot of both modes.

PVPers: Can we agree that you now owe more MVP consideration to the players that get a lot of objective points in WZs? by b1llyb0nesin swtor

  • Walk ball over the goal line for score: 2500 attack points
  • Pass across the goal line for score: 2500 attack points
  • Receive pass in endzone for score: 2500 attack points
  • Complete a pass any other place on the field: 500 attack points.

Smart tactic or dirty trick by Annochin swtor

[–]Syberduh 4 points5 points ago

There's nothing empty about winning this way. The other team should have enough brains to send some people down the other door.

I've been the victim of this tactic many more times than I've benefited from it and I consider it completely legit (and rage inducing).

It's no more "empty" than me spending 80% of my time in the first room in stealth so that I can interrupt a door cap while the team waits for respawn. My damage numbers often suck but that "victory" screen makes up for a lot.
