Just a heads up: Frank Lampard is 15 goals away from becoming our all time top scorer in all competitions by TheEphemericin chelseafc

[–]Swederman 3 points4 points ago

It's actually 16 to tie Bobby Tambling and 17 to get past him.

I keep up a chart with his goalscoring stats

If you want more stats I recommand you his transfermarkt page. I've helped with the data, there is about every game he has ever played in his career, bar cup ties before 2005 (wich is 73 games and 20 goals)

It's going to be a special moment when he'll break the record

Did Inter get the same crap from the media 2 years ago that Chelsea are getting now? by funk_master_khanin soccer

stuffing men in the box - which is not good defense

All Robben, Ribery and Muller did was cut inside, over and over again. What else are you supposed to do ?

Thank you Didier.

You are the reason I love football, you are the reason I love Chelsea.

When I grew up supporing Marseille, you became an instant legend

All the goals you have scored there, I rembember every one of them.

The impossible volley against Montpellier, the iconic drive against Newcastle I remember them all, I will never forget.

Then you moved to Chelsea, and just like you, I was heartbroken

But you grew to love this football club, and so did I.

You have stepped up at a level so high, nobody could even touch you

No player ever had that big of an impact, on so many big games

Thank you Didier.

Drogba did the same thing, he just picked the right side

Are there any ideas as to where Drogba might be going? by king1037in soccer

[–]Swederman 1 point2 points ago

Yeah, it's not like he played for their archrival Marseille, where he still adulated, and yelled "Allez l'OM" after scoring at the Parc des Princes with Chelsea

Is it me or did Chelsea FC just carry out the worst trophy-lifting ceremony in Champions League history? by nicteein soccer

stole

For real ?

Drogba and Lampard are, rightfully, going to have all the headlines, and the guy can't enjoy his moment ?

How can you complain about anything after a night like that ?

Not sure if serious...

They won as a team, and they can't celebrate as a team ?

Chelsea only had 1 corner in the entire CL final and Drogba scored. by djent_illiniin soccer

Bayern got 20, and 0 attempt on target.

Lampard cleared at least 10 of them at the near post

Dan Harmon Is No Longer Showrunner on Community by cornfrontationin television

For me is not so much the "meta" part the bothered me but the writing in general. Being self-referential isn't bad in principle. AD was heavily self-referentiel but still hilarious and brillant because it didn't drive the show away from the characters or the basics of the writing.

This season, some characters have been run over multiple times (Abed, Jeff, Chang was already dead), other have been heavily flanderized (Annie, Shirley, the Dean) and the show just couldn't find decent way to set-up or close episodes.

The plots themselves weren't bad most of time, I think a good chunck of them were imaginative and excellent but there was so little grounding in the writing that it pretty much ruined them.

When they managed to avoid these problems you got episodes like Remedial Chaos Theory, the pinnacle of the series for me, and the final episode which was really good.

What have you been doing to distract you from the final? by nomalasin chelseafc

[–]Swederman 1 point2 points ago

Very inventive as always but it was dissapointing in three ways :

1) It was a waste of Giancarlo Esposito (same goes for John Goodman and Michael K Williams, their caracters could have been played by anybody)

2) It didn't make any sense in the context of the series (right between all the shitty Chang stuff)

3) The Abed stuff, especially the final scene, was way too stretched out.

The next one was rotten from the base due to the terrible Chang storyline but they did a pretty good job dismantling it

The season finale was excellent. That's what they should have done more this season instead of making crazy and dumb shit happen to Jeff, Chang, Abed & co

I should get back studying my finals

Population change in Germany in 2010 [1080x1400] by Areatin MapPorn

[–]Swederman 13 points14 points ago

Germany is always very interesting for maps, due to the reunification process and the density in the Ruhr.

And football works really well for that: here's a map of football clubs in 2008, and the same in 2012

There is, as with population, a higher density of clubs in the West and a shift towards the south, like OP's map, is also visible on 2012 (they go from 4 to 7 first division clubs)

Is anyone else hoping for an OKC IND Finals so David Stern's head explodes? by apfpilotin nba

[–]Swederman 1 point2 points ago

That's a common misconception. Westbrook has been brillant all season, his mid-range jumper is money. The thing is the Thunder needs him to take those shots, because you can't let KD shoot 40 times per game, since he is the only one with Harden who can score consistently.

And if you watch last night's game, it was Durant who passed the ball instead of taking the shots, not the other way around.

Mario Gomez, one of the most efficient goalscorers in Champions League history by ImmanuelXavierin soccer

[–]Swederman 1 point2 points ago

I think he is brillant at positioning himself and making the right runs but his finishing skills aren't that good for a guy putting up those kind of numbers. He is capable of making 0 for 5 and the next game 3 for 3.

I wouldn't say he is more efficient than Drogba. Those stats are saying otherwise, but half of Drogba's off-target attempts must be 30 yards free-kicks. I would say he is more productive, because in the end he scores a lot so he is sucesseful.
