I could use some advice from fellow attorneys. by Tinyloopholein law

The other thing to maybe look into, is that I think that the IRS has a large regional office in Houston, and they sometimes need seasonal auditors, so you might look into that.

What part of Texas are you in? I'm not that familiar with the legal market, I ended up starting up my own place right after law school, but I'm under the impression that the DFW is pretty good. Most of my friends have jobs, and have quit and changed jobs and so forth, and it's not like they have that good of grades (one guy had like a 2.4.)

Yeah, it's a scary thing. If you don't mind me asking, why did you make the move to a new state if you were on with a firm in the old state?

Came here to say this. Call Centers and plasma donation have gotten me through tough times in my life. Sucks to be there, but you'll appreciate whatever you get in the future that much more.

Good luck to you. Like you said, you have to have some capital to set up your own shingle, but you'll get it going, I'm sure of it.

It’s official: Dallas is still the (one and only) worst city for bicycling in the entire country by satellitebobin Dallas

[–]StinsonBeach 0 points1 point ago

I love the idea of on-street bike routes, because it's a positive for everyone and a great compromise.

Bikes do in many cases slow down traffic, but where else are bikes supposed to ride? Designating bike routes allows drivers of cars to know which streets will be slower and which won't, and it gives bike riders to opportunity to have a much safer route to travel, and to also make use of roads, which is their right.

I'm kind of forever alone in my Baha'i life. I don't meet or see other Baha'is very often. Do Baha'is in your community do a bunch of reddit speak? The only guy that does around these parts is the Chairman of the LSA, and he's just generally a pretty hilarious dude. I've found that I'd rather just hang out with him than go to Baha'i stuff.

Recommendations for local windshield repair? by Nightcrawler13in Dallas

[–]StinsonBeach 1 point2 points ago

I always end up using a smaller place called Ace Auto Glass (I used to have a Honda Element, and that stupid flat windshield would pick up a crack 3 times a year it seemed.

They don't have the online quote system, you have to call them at at 972.530.8889. I'm pretty sure they'd give you a free quote though, they always did mine that way.

Dude, listing one guy is not data. For all we know it's an outlier (in fact, by definition it would be, DIII players are generally not getting up to no. 12 in the world in doubles.)

Maybe stuff has changed since I was in high school, but our HS no. 1 ended up being a really solid DII player, and later going pro, and he never cracked the top 600 world players, and I was beating him probably 1 out of 3 or 4 matches, and I don't think I was much better than a 4.0 or a 4.5.

Of course the top DIII programs are going to have some studs, by, by and large, I've been able to beat guys on DIII teams that I've met, and I just wasn't super impressed.

A Heads up: There's a pic of Baha'u'llah up on r/religion, maybe steer clear of there for today by StinsonBeachin bahai

[–]StinsonBeach[S] 0 points1 point ago

I'm not really sure. At the end of the day, isn't Christ the exact same spirit as Baha'u'llah? It's probably a little bit of cognitive dissonance on our part if we are able to laugh at Jesus jokes, wonder why Muslims get up in arms about Muhammad cartoons, and then get angry if Baha'u'llah is treated that way.

My soon to be wife is an agnostic atheist leaning person, but she's always getting on to me about doing/saying/laughing at blasphemous things, about any religion. Her point is that these things are sacred, because they are a representation of that unknowable essence that we was humans are trying and striving to understand, and regardless of whether or not someone's understanding is "right" (what does that even mean?) the thing is that those beliefs are important to them, and are not something that should be subject to mockery.

Mental Fit??? by wilkinskin Fitness

[–]StinsonBeach 1 point2 points ago

It's probably better that you put lumosity in your budget cuts. After about a month I'm up to "99%" for my age group in every category, whatever that means. I still play it, usually when I'm on the john.

Today I stumbled upon Lumosity.com, which gives you daily mental puzzles that are supposedly tailored to improve concentration. Are there any similar sites or things that I can do to mentally improve myself? by LumosityWondererin AskReddit

[–]StinsonBeach 0 points1 point ago

Why not just do lumosity? I do about 5-10 puzzles every day and it's really been helping me out with work.

I've pretty much maxed everything for my age group after a few weeks, though.

Yeah. I'm not even sure if it was a troll. I asked that the fellow mark it "NSFB," but that was pretty much it, and mostly for other Baha'is, as some can get really offended by that stuff. I mean, sometimes I think it's kind of interesting when just folks out there post a Baha'i related meme to reddit.

Overall, I would say I've noticed that more and more people have at least heard of the Baha'i Faith, that I've run into. The flip side, is that more and more people are going to dislike it as knowledge of it grows, just the nature of numbers, you know?

A division III player is probably about a 4.0 to a 4.5.

My sister and her doubles partner in high school were probably better than this.

Heading to Dallas for the weekend and have a question about the Zoo and Aquarium! by Fritoontheradioin Dallas

[–]StinsonBeach 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, I tell people I went to the Dallas Zoo, and they are like "Why?" It's much better than it was before, probably 200% larger, with some cooler animals and stuff. It's still not on par with Ft. Worth Zoo though. So for out of towners, I would say go to Fort Worth Zoo.

Heading to Dallas for the weekend and have a question about the Zoo and Aquarium! by Fritoontheradioin Dallas

[–]StinsonBeach 0 points1 point ago

LIke everyone else says, and pretty much like you've said in your edit, the Fort Worth Zoo is a world class Zoo. The Dallas Zoo, well it's better than it used to be, but really it's what I would call a "3-hour Zoo." It's a lot like San Antonio's Zoo, than the big zoos like you would see in San Diego or Chicago or something. Fort Worth's is on par with those larger Zoos, and you won't be disappointed.

Also, enjoy your stay in Las Colinas. Here is some unsolicited dining advice: Might I recommend going to 7 Salsas if you like Mexican food. Across the parking lot from it is I Heart Pho, also awesome. Really, most of the good eateries are in that area, although there are some other good places in the area, a decent hole-in-the-wall Thai place as well, whose name I don't remember, but it's not Blue Ginger.

Love to attitude; I feel the same way. Let people lift or do whatever they want. If they look like they are timid and kind of want some advice, actually just start a convo, and they will then bring it up themselves, or maybe not, but meh, I can't read minds.

That's wild man. Not sure if Baha'is are supposed to look at this. Maybe put a spoiler alert or something. I wouldn't go as far as NotACynic recommends, but it'd be nice of Baha'is didn't click on it and be like "WHOA!"
