It's a Sad Day When Your Ferret Passes but Then What? by palexin ferrets

[–]StarOcean 2 points3 points ago

I am so sorry for your loss. I would like to share my experiance with the death of my ferret because maybe it will help.

First off, let yourself mourn. For eveyone it is different. For me, I cremated my little guy so he is still with me even though he is gone - it is oddly comforting. When I die, I want his ashes to be with me. I also have a picture of him on my desk next to his remains along with a paw print made by the crematorium.

There is nothing that has been so painful for me than loosing my little one. I raised my baby from 3 months old to the day he passed at age 6. I had no job and spent all day every day with my fuzzies. For me, it has been two months, and I still miss him. For awhile after he died, I was a mess, crying every day for hours, not eating, not sleeping, not doing much of anything. After he died, my apartment became quiter. My life without Irvine has changed a lot. All the pesky things he used to do, I miss terribly. I feel my life more empty now without him.

I function more now than I did then... but the pain is still here. I still choke up and cry when ever talking about him. I can't say much other than it hurts as I am still greiving. But you had a time together, a time that allowd you two a chance to experiance life together, to make memories. Cherish that, it helps. Good luck.

Hmm... this is what my male did, turns out he had adrenal disease and the testosterone his body was producing as a response made him aggressive.

My vet warned me against furrovite/ferretvite since it has a lot of vitimins in it, too much can cause vitimin toxicity.

I cannot how believe how painful it is lose a fuzzie. I understand where you are coming from, I literally cannot talk about about my baby without choking up and crying. It has been two months, and it is still painful, I am still griving. I can tell you love and miss your fuzz butt as much as I do.

I am so sorry to hear this. I am coming up on the two month mark of the passing of my ferret. He lost a lot of weight. One thing you can get her to do is try to get a syringe and feed her Ensure. This is what my vet reccomended to help my Irvine (my fuzzie) put weight back on. He did not eat it on his own, but I had to force feed him, I got him to eat 18 cc's once. I should say that he did like the taste, he just had no apatite. Good luck. God, I miss you Irvine.

I had a professor who was a "Shakespearean expert" and she said that while he was the first one to write these words down, not invent them, as it is highly likely that these words were already in use by the common folk.

Hey San Diego redditors - My girlfriend and I are moving from Germany to San Diego for about 4-6 months for her studies. Where can I rent a flat that is a decent place to live for around 700 USD? We are coming in mid August :) by MaYAL_terEgoin sandiego

[–]StarOcean 1 point2 points ago*

In La Jolla, not a chance. That is where I live, my lease is up in August and I have been looking on craigslist and Zillow, nada. The cheapest place around here that I found was a studio going for around $1300. I am not talking about sharing or getting a roomate to split the rent with, of course those things make it cheaper, I am talking about my own place. La Jolla is expensive.

EDIT: Just searched for places to rent in La Jolla costing $1000 on Zillow and got no results.

You will not be able to find an apartment for that price. For a 1 bdr. it will cost you over $1000 USD in the shitty parts of SD like El Cajon. Otherwise, the only way to get that price is to get roomates or share a room with another person.

Littering is littering, even if it is with good intentions. I live in the La Jolla/UTC area and in the last few days they have sprung up everywhere. They look so trashy to be honest. =/

My best buddy enjoying his last day on our porch. His kidney failure has reached the point where he's in pain, and I can't handle seeing him like that. He's 16 years old, his name is Radley, and his appointment is in just a few hours. I'll miss him so much. :'( by jeridaravenin pics

I am so sorry for what you are going through, and what you are about to go through. I JUST went through this, and in all honesty I still am, but I want to share because maybe it will help in some way.

I had to put down my ferret almost one month to the day. He had cancer, and took a turn for the worst where it was compressing his lungs. He has been diagnosed with cancer two years prior, and did not express his condition at all. So for years, him having cancer seemed like everything was normal, until he took a turn for the worse and started wasting away.

I am not going to lie, putting down your animal is a kind of sad with limitless depths. I held my little boy while putting him, I raised him, I took care of him, he was my companion, I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. The first shot sedated him, and the next two were the toxins. The second and third shot come so quickly after the first, and I had no time to "prep." I knew as soon as the second one went in that it was all final, my baby was going to die, and he was going to die in my hands. I lost it after the second shot. I cried out "I am so sorry!' over and over again. I guess, I wanted some kind of forgiveness for ending his life, and was apologizing to him. His little head went limp on my chest, and I knew he was gone. I I cried and held his body for two hours. It took me a long time to look at him dead, I felt that he might "look dead" - but in reality when I looked at him, I cried even harder, because he looked like he was just sleeping.

When you finally come home, the absence of your little guy will be in every where and every thing in your house. It will be palpable. It will be lonely. You will cry. Small little things will remind you of your buddy. Coping with death is hard. I stopped eating, lost weight, stopped sleeping. The death of my little guy stopped my life for awhile. Losing a pet is described akin to losing a family member. Adjusting to life without your buddy will be hard.

People will try to comfort you, and while the words warm the heart a little, it does not make the pain go away or bring him back. Nothing can, not even time. You will always miss your little buddy. Bringing up old funny memories can make you laugh and remember your guy in a light manner, but it can also make you miss him even more.

To cope try to write a journal, poetry, make a memorial, draw a picture... all these things help you to express your grief.

Let me also tell you this, it is a very real possibility that you will have sad dreams where you wake up crying.

I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved pet.

Same thing in Japan. I was told by my Japanese teacher that Hiragana was invented by wealthy women who wanted to learn Chinese, but were forbade to. Even the original name for Hiragana means "woman's hand" or something like that.

New Addition, Baby Drogo + Question about Stress by sybauin ferrets

[–]StarOcean 1 point2 points ago

The older ferrets are perfectly normal when introducing two older ferrets to a new one. I adopted a new ferret when my other two were about three years old, and they responded the same way. Not long after that the two older ones adopted the new addition. It has been four years since and she is just another member of the family. The best thing you can do is keep the new one in a separate cage. Let the little one out when the others are sleeping to get his sent around the house. When the little one goes to sleep, let the older ones out, smell his sent and give them time to sniff the ferret through the cage. Later on do short supervised visits. Try sticking ferret vite on their fur so they lick each other. Eventually they will get used to each other. Give it time, introducing ferrets is stressful at first.

I am so very sad to hear about this, a life lost is truly tragic, she was so young. It is good to know that she did trust someone, she did have a shot at life. Losing a fuzz-butt is really hard.
