Link or description? I'm building something similar for a project though not to that scale.

Oo fun with Hydrogen. We do most of our SETI searches along the infamous Hydrogen Line. Good luck!

You mentioned what you're observing, but not the why/what you're looking for. Details man!

Old telephone pole by haphaestusmmin pics

[–]Slavac -2 points-1 points ago

Mostly because telegraphs aren't used much anymore so the lines are in disrepair. Slack in electricity transmission lines are more frequent due to wind and ice prevention.

Old telephone pole by haphaestusmmin pics

[–]Slavac -1 points0 points ago

This is incorrect. Slack lines degrade signal transfer on these old lines. If they're slack, there's a problem.

Telegraph, not electricity or telephone. Sorry.

No worries, just helping out :) Thanks again for the videos, they're really well done.

I liked the video. Just FYI a clip is something that goes into a M1 Garand, almost every other gun uses a magazine. Also watching you with the soda popper makes me realize how much I suck with a similar loadout ^

Qualifying for the London Olympics like a boss by jbond66in pics

Crazy..hrm. I've seen a guy shoot his toe off in Texas. Seen a shotgun explode into shrapnel (with me standing 3' behind it). We had our entire team get horribly sick in Egypt thanks to the water (Imagine 28 shooters all crawling around on all fours for a few days). Finland had a giant green berm behind each range (dirt covered in a gumby green tarp) that made the targets little more than blurs and my favorite: shooting in Hurricane Andrew.

There's interest yes but I'm not really sure if the Olympic committee will ever go for it. Given the various shooting sports one can do, it's sort of hard to draw a line in the sand and say, "Okay enough shooting sports in the Olympics." One problem is watching Skeet/Trap is like watching paint dry unless you're behind the gun or really interested in the sport unless it's an event where we use 'puff' targets (targets filled with a pink or orange talcum powder that puff when shot).

I don't really think it's a lack of global interest as events like IPSC are very popular and a lot of fun to shoot/host, the biggest hurdle will be getting it past the Olympic committee.

I haven't shot with Boerner, though my head coach was Tom Mars (of A&M) and Mr. Woodhouse at the Olympic Training Center. Back to the question, I started with 4-H shooting at the age of 9, went from there to the Junior Olympics, won a few trials and ended up on the Development Team and later after winning a few more trials the Travel Team (which goes on world cup shoots and so forth).

There's both skeet and trap. Trap has two events, one with a single target and one with doubles. To shoot any of the 3 requires very fast reflexes. For guns most everyone will use an over/under with various barrel lengths for various games (28" for skeet, up to 34" for trap). Most of the olympic fellas will use a Perazzi 12g that's been custom fitted (these start at around $7k). I'm not a competitor anymore though when I was doing trials I'd shoot about 1500 a week if I had the time.

No, it's very restricted (7/8ths ounce loads, 24 drams of powder), nothing over 12 gauge. Using a machine gun would probably suck as you're trying to hit a target moving at or around 105MPH and have to lead it anywhere from 0.5" to 4'. It'd still be damn fun though.

Ha! I can set one up if there's enough interest

Yes. International Skeet, International Trap and Doubles. For about 7 years I was on the Development and Travel teams (from which the Olympians are selected) for International Skeet for the US teams. If you have any questions I can answer them :)
