TROPHY CASE

Watching a real time feed of people getting angry at the Jubilee Line soothes my own pain. by Larwoodin london

I have actually given up and gone to the pub instead.

Motherboard part bent? by Cookiekingin buildapc

[–]Rookeh 0 points1 point ago

I've had issues similar to that in some builds. Most of the time it's nothing to worry about. Hell, just recently I actually managed to snap off a loose SATA port from a brand new board (due to cable flex in a very small case).

Luckily it was purely cosmetic (it was just a plastic retainer, the actual data pins are attached to the board itself) - reattached it with a pair of tweezers (once making sure I'd discharged any static buildup) and all was well.

Mine was a library at a University technology campus. The 000s, the 600s...they were coming out of the god damn walls, man!

Damn right, I hate that it's the default behaviour. I just recently built an HTPC around Win7, and today it decided to shut itself off for an update. In the middle of a Formula 1 race.

My reaction.

There are also black cabs driving around with this ad on the side, carrying the slogan "Home, James!". Made me chuckle.

Is there any way to know if one would save money with a Top Up Oyster VS a Monthly Oyster? by ShetlandJamesin london

[–]Rookeh 0 points1 point ago*

I have roughly the same commute as you - Zones 1-3 daily (Docklands to London Bridge), and decided very early on that I'd just fork out for an annual TC. So far I've worked out that I'm saving about £20 or so per month in doing so, plus it gives me the same free reign over the important bits of London as the monthly card, without having to worry about topping up or renewing.

In fact, the only time you need to worry about topping up is if you plan to travel out of zone. Then you'll need some PAYG balance to cover the cost of the journey that isn't covered by your travelcard. I try and leave a little bit of balance on mine for emergencies. (i.e. I get blind drunk and end up stranded somewhere in North London at 2am. It's happened before.)

Aw man, I miss my 'tiel. He lives with my parents and I only get to see him a couple of times a year. He always recognises and greets me when I visit though!

So I had lunch with my boyfriend's parents today and his dad paid for everyone, except me. Any charming stories from your SO's familiy, reddit? by chipkoekjesin AskReddit

[–]Rookeh 1 point2 points ago

I actually never met my most recent SO's parents or relatives - long story short, I met her at University, her family lived in France at the time and didn't really come over to visit all that often. I got a chance to interact with them on Skype, Facebook etc but I never actually saw them face to face.

She did meet my parents though, who very much approved - to the point that my father paid for pretty much everything whilst they were visiting us. Shame that it didn't work out between us really, her family sounded like a fun bunch - if a little crazy.
