I can't do numbers... any help? (Round 2) by esoxin math

[–]ReallyGoodAdvice 1 point2 points ago

Can you explain more about what exactly you're having trouble with? You seem to be able to conceptualize "6" just fine, and you think of the 6 1s lined up vertically as the same numerical concept as the 6 1s lined up horizontally. The shape the 6 objects are arranged in doesn't seem to matter to you. Why does the arrangement of 36 objects matter to you? I understand that if you need a way to visualize 36, you would have to put it in some sort of rectangle, as there's not really an intuitive way to think of that value in the same way you can with smaller ones, but why does it matter?

I'm pretty sure it ranks things by how important they are to humans on a primitive level, not how you should act if you want to be a good citizen in a functioning society.

Would an intelligent computer have a "right to life"? by electronics-engineerin technology

[–]ReallyGoodAdvice 6 points7 points ago

If we get to the point that we can examine and reverse-engineer a natural neural network (the brain) in the same way we sequenced the human genome, would humans lose the right to life as well? What if we created an artificial neural network that functioned identically to a human brain?

It is humanly impossible to write code to reverse a linked list without drawing little boxes with arrows between them.

Comparative motivation or "beat the shit out of the person who's better than you, at their superior thing" by [deleted]in GetMotivated

Commit to being better than anyone who did less work than you to deserve it. Don't worry about people who are "better" than you who didn't do anything to earn it.
