I saw a cart rolling down towards a really nice new car parked in a disabled space a while back.

I thought for a long while (I had a pretty long time to think), "should I stop that cart?" I would have had to have gone into a pretty good jog to save the car, but I could have made it. I thought about that, while I stood there, for the few seconds it took the cart to finally make contact with the driver side door. It hit hard enough bounce back, then roll back into the car again.

I bet that person was pissed. Particularly, because the cart remained there mockingly. They would have seen it propped against their car as they exited the building. At first they would be in denial about the extent of the damage, "It isn't that bad. Maybe it's just propped against the door. Maybe it isn't even touching the car." Their blood would begin to boil as they got closer to the car and realized the extent of the damage. Their impudent rage would overflow. Who would do this? What an idiot! Fucking assholes! They would push the cart out of the way and furiously drive off almost hitting several people exiting the store.

Then, later, the cart that they had not taken the time to place in one of the cart corrals. Would start rolling, again. It's target, a pickup located several spots away.

And so, the endless waltz of cart inflicted door dings would continue.
