I'm sorry I was a bitch in high school. What have you done in your past that you need to apologize (even anonymously) for? by [deleted]in AskReddit

If this thread is anything to go by, mistakes can never be forgiven and you should just hate yourself forever.

Haha holy shit I can't believe people think the shit on that list is actually this bad, what will happen when one of you morons gets actually hurt by someone? You're not perfect.

Maybe the guy shouldn't have broken the rules if he didn't want to deal with the consequences of doing that?

You have the nerve to sit behind your computer screen insulting someone for things they specifically said they regret. And she is the monster?

Go look in a fucking mirror.

I guarantee you have done worse things in your life if you're old enough to be commenting here. Guess you just aren't mature enough to realize your own imperfection.

Holy shit I don't think I've seen reddit have a nerve hit this bad before. And that's saying something. Face it, you're not perfect yourself, we've probably all done something worse than anything on that list, I guess OP is the only one around here mature enough to realise she isn't perfect.

You're deluded. Absolutely fucking deluded.

You are the delusional one. Holy fuck, the immaturity in this thread is hilarious.

Face it, you are't going to get your 'revenge of the nerds' by screaming at some chick over the internet for specifically expressing her regret about some pretty standard high school shit.

Actually now I'm glad I saw this comment, because it reminded me how bad being around sick immature people like redditors is for me. I'm logging out now. Thanks for being my monthly reminder of just how fucked up this place is.

I can't believe this is upvoted. You have the insight of an eight year old. This is a laughably narrow and unrealistic world view.

"HA HA REVENGE FTW" is really the best response we can have to someone pouring their heart out about their regrets?

I don't even know how people who think like this function in society. How can you be a completely angry, hateful being over everything, with absolutely no concept of forgiveness and still have a life?

You seriously were never a bitch to one person in your whole life? You're perfect?

This is Care Bear level shit, people. Stuff you should've learned in kindergarten.

What the fuck? What a horrible comment. OP specifically is posting things she feels BAD for and you come in here and shit all over it and call her a coward? This is the LAST place you should be doing this. What the hell is wrong with you? Do you have some kind of brain problem?

Nine things. You're telling me that you're old enough to be posting on reddit but haven't done nine things in your whole life that hurt someone? There aren't so many as nine things you can think of that you've done that were wrong or harmful? I'm gonna let you in on a little secret - if you can't think of nine bad things in your life, it's not because you haven't done nine bad things.

Are you perfect? Are you literally flawless? More to the point, have you done this? Have you personally called up every person you've ever been a cunt to and apologized? Well, maybe you should, and then come back here and make a snarky comment. You can start with the OP.

And I'm sure calling up a bunch of people whose phone numbers she doesn't have and hasn't talked to in a decade to apologize for something they have probably forgotten about would totally be appropriate and totally not freak anyone out at all.

OP isn't a coward. OP is strong for realizing her mistakes and learning from them. You are the coward. For not being willing to realise that you are at least as big an asshole.

Christ, the way you talk you'd think OP had raped a baby.

Looked at the first page of your comment history, now think you might just be a troll, (or brain damaged).

you realize most of the reasons smokers smoke is because of guilt

I have no idea why anyone would 'realize' this absurd notion.

I believe the reason most smokers smoke is because they have a physiological addiction.

That being said, I agree that the advice doesn't seem helpful.

What Neurotikitty said. It's not about winning debates or giving them equal say in decisions, but as a kid I was infuriated by the answer 'because I said', which just led me to be more rebellious and less helpful. Kids think about more than we give them credit for alot of the time. If you give kids reasons for things, they'll at least grow up learning to

a) have reasons for things

b) find out reasons for things

c) give other people reasons for things.

It's not about letting the kid make a decision to eat a box of Oreos for dinner, it's about telling them why they can't have a box of Oreos, even if they aren't going to agree with it or properly understand it.

This extends to other things, like science, too. When a kid wants to know how a TV works, maybe you won't be able to sit them down and give them a complete understanding of subatomic particles and electrical engineering, but you should at least be able to explain a few key concepts, like how electricity comes through a wall socket, and avoid saying "magic" or "pixie dust", and if the kid ends up being the kind that wants to sit reading books about that stuff all day, they'll learn something valuable. And if not, they'll still grow up feeling like when they want to learn, they can.

Personally I don't see why we still keep up this Santa/Easter Bunny/Tooth Fairy bullshit, all it does is make kids think expensive toys literally come out of thin air. I think the internet is going to quickly take care of this one though.

Of course this is an idealisation and you can't always maintain this attitude 100% of the time, and sometimes it won't help, but it's about guiding them towards a certain attitude in the long term. Obviously just putting your foot down and yelling at them will have as high a success rate.

Source: My opinion. I don't have children, hate children, and don't ever want to be around children.

Same for Dr. Phil. The guy's advice is so blatantly terrible that it wouldn't be a stretch to call him deluded. Bordering on insane. His advice is so backwards and old fashioned, I feel like I'm watching something from the 1920's.

He takes everything to an absolute extreme, and my favourite is the fact that like all adults, he himself has been a teenager. Yet he doesn't understand how they work in the slightest. His solution to the 'problem' of teenagers having sex is to not let them date or see people of the other gender. His advice on most problems like this is to ignore it until it goes away. I don't even know how a man this dumb makes it through the day without choking himself to death on household items, let alone gets on TV. Teach teenagers to have safe sex, they might have safe sex. Teach teenagers to have no sex, they'll do whatever they like. Either way, they will be having sex.

That or he knows perfectly well how bad his advice is but prefers to make a hundred million dollars giving out shit. Probably more likely.

More examples of the horseshit this guy spews forth on a weekly basis.

But this shit is actually accepted in a first world country, because America.

I find this whole idea astonishing. In Australia, you can and will get fined for going 6KM/h (3.7M/h) over the limit on quiet suburban streets - I have been - and there doesn't need to be a cop there at all, just a camera.

Please don't upvote this shit, people. It's a fake attention grab. They obviously used a bunch of common first names without mentioning anything about the job or the company just to scare some idiots. /r/funny even banned this kind of post.

People scream FAKE on any AmA or post where the person has the slightest bit of an unusual or interesting story but is consistent and provides detail, but lap up obvious horseshit like this.

Not really. If you need a stadium full, that's a shitload of people.

In this image for example, we can see at least ten rows of seating. I can see about fifteen 'people' in each row. That's 150 people right there, and that's only probably a small section of the seating. Especially in a single camera environment (just about any movie) you can do some creative things with moving people around and making a small crowd look big, but at some point you'll just need a heap of people for certain shots.

20$/h per extra (about the minimum I ever got paid) * 150 extras = 3,000$ per hour just for the people we can see in the picture. Imagine you need five or six times that many. And for several days. Now put them all through your casting process for extras, cater for them, buy insurance, have them in your payroll system, pay superannuation, etc... you could spend a million bucks just on background people for a week. That amount of time might be an extreme example, but it probably doesn't happen much because of techniques like this. Shooting is a slooooooow process, and there are alot of movies and TV shows with big crowds.

Source: Well, I've done some work as an extra, but you don't need any special knowledge to make the above calculations.
