I'm not saying they are paid, but I do think their parent corporations have reason to tell them to give games better reviews than they deserve. I don't know about IGN, but I've definitely seen Kotaku do it before (no source, though); and unless I'm completely going senile at 22, there was some pretty big hubub about it too.

Might've been that specific reviewer though, who knows. But thinking that no reviewer is ever given incentive to give better reviews is just blind stupidity in my opinion.

It's a solid game. It's not going to get pushed aside like MvC2 did for MvC3, at least not until SF5 comes out. The SF series has staying power

Regardless the point is lost. Microsoft pays for the bandwidth and can do what they want with the items as long as they're being distributed through their servers.

It's completely understandable that they wouldn't want to give away 50,000 codes, resulting in roughly 2GB of data transfer entirely for free. Though considering we already pay $60/year (off sale price) for LIVE I think Microsoft should be a bit more giving.

Fair, no? But reality, yes.

I like the GPL. I'm not biased against it, but it IS viral, and it's caused trouble in the same way it's fixed things (See the BSD Atheros driver issue)

I never said the GPLv4 will be horrendous, and also said that I read these things online and to take them with a grain of salt; but thanks for clearing things up.

The GNU GPL isn't necessarily bad so much as it is viral.

Also, as of GPLv3, by agreeing to the terms of the GPL you also agree to license your code under any FUTURE version of the GPL. Meaning if GPLv4 is a horrendous license, you're stuck with it by agreeing to v3.

IANA license lawyer, so take this with a grain of salt; it's just what I've read.
