Video of a Sexual Assault at the BCS National Championship [X-Post from r/cfb] by HoHoNOPEin videos

[–]Ph4g3 -1 points0 points ago

Your analogy is equivalent to shoving a fist up somebodies ass being the same as shaking their hand. Unwanted penetration is rape. Touching skin off skin is not.

Why did you have to bring my Moms into this? Bad form.

It's just a bit of skin touching off somebody elses skin. Assault? Nah. Humiliating? Sure. People are freaking out because it's a ballsack. Could have been a palm or a foot for all the difference it makes.

Java threads question by whoami4546in java

[–]Ph4g3 4 points5 points ago

Here is one solution. Basically tell each thread to wait on the next before completing.

Thread[] threads = makeMyThreads();

for(Thread t : threads)
{
    t.start();
}

try
{
    for(Thread t : threads)
    {
        t.join();
    }
}
catch(Exception e){ /*Do your own cleanup*/}
finally
{
    //Update JTextfield
}

That whole article I linked is a good resource for threads. It's a relatively easy read and goes through the basics of threads.

If you want to see this kind of thing, I recommend Telecinco. All channels tend to the same, except precisely Spanish Television, is public television. Telecinco has something to do with Berlusconi, I do not know if it is owned by you or something, can you imagine the circus.

Might be wrong, I don't speak Spanish.

I really hate this joke. There is, in fact, F13 to F24 keys available to use. Your keyboard does not have them, but they are available. Check out the windows API.

Note VK_F13 (0x7C) through to VK_F24 (0x87). It's just cruel to tell somebody that they have to go through the process of writing a program to bind the unused virtual keys to physical keys with the hopes of finding some new found functionality. It's nothing but a lie. Who in there right mind would bind such useful functionality to unimplemented keys? Stop spreading lies.

Would anybody else be in favour of a "Sniper Ahead!" command? by Ph4g3in tf2

[–]Ph4g3[S] 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

This is probably one of the best replies I've heard for this thread. My counter argument would be that sentries were not initially able to reposition in TF2. Ever since the engy update, the "Sentry ahead!" voice command has become redundant due to the same argument you have given.

I would argue against it though. If you're running through a choke point with some chums and one of them gets head-shotted, pressing "X-3" or something similar will quickly alert surrounding teammates as to what's happening. A lot of people in this thread seem to feel that nobody listens to voice commands, but I would think that everyone knows what "X-2" means [hopefully], and you heed it. Engies, medics and snipers rely on that command.

I've seen Gordan Ramsay put a knife point into the top of a crab, about a centimeter or two back from its eyes, pull down towards its face and that does the trick. I don't really enjoy it though.

A different method, which I much prefer, is doing a stealth kill on the crab. Put it in the fridge for a few hours. It knocks the crab unconscious, like slowly drifting off to sleep. Then, pop that fucker in boiling water and cook it till red! I'm not sure how effective either methods are, but as long as that pinchy shit isn't moving when I throw him in the pot, it's all good.

Yes, I know that was a picture of a lobster. Same rules apply.

This video. [NSFL]

Video description:

This video shows a male patient, 26yo with a hepatitis C, dry gangrene of the foot and a wet gangrene of the thigh - the result of intravenous injections of Koaxil - new drug that is popular among heroin-addicted people because of the price (cheaper than opioids) and easy access (most of the Russian pharmacies sell it without a prescription). The tool that was used to cut the bones is called "Gigli" saw. The procedure shown on video was needed because of the potential contamination and/or ethical concerns. The doctors amputated the rest of his leg later during regular surgical operation.The procedure shown on video was needed because of the potential contamination and/or ethical concerns. The doctors amputated the rest of his leg later during regular surgical operation. The main concern of that poor guy was how painful procedure will be. Because of the necrotic process in the tissue during a gangrene all nerves are damaged so the person does not feel a thing.

As a former Firefox user, I'm well aware of greasemonkey. However, about a year ago, I switched to Chrome. Many reasons for this, some are not justified anymore. I've been considering switching back for the last couple of weeks, given the release of FF4.

Honestly, I'm hoping some Chromium-head will hop on this thread and say something to the tune of:

Are you serious? You've gone all this time without 'Popular LaTeX plugin'? Hivemind - rid me of this moron!

I should probably end this post with the following:

/engineer; /~30 hours awake; /drunk.

Sorry scientists.

Search for a picture of a snake, end up with this. by cromulent_wordin WTF

[–]Ph4g3 15 points16 points ago

A lot of people are misinterpreting this picture. You see, snakes are cold-blooded animals. When they wake up in the morning, they need to sit in the sun for a while so they can warm up their blood and move around. I don't think I need to tell you that some places are seriously lacking in sunlight.

If you own a snake (or two) as a pet in a low sunlight area, it's a serious hassle to be a responsible pet owner. Pets need love and affection from their owners, as well as proper exercise. In order to achieve this, you need to have the pet nearby, as well as preparing them for their exercise.

This brings us to the explanation for this picture. This man obviously leads a very busy life style. He doesn't have time to sit around while his pets wake up and get all warm and shit. He wants to get the scheduled exercise and affection time done in proper order and as efficiently as possible. Obviously, he is going to put two snakes in his face. It warms them up and all the wriggling gives them plenty of exercise. Not to mention the face that they are as close as possible to him, so they are obviously loved.

TL;DR: This man loves his pets. Obviously he would do this for them.

You are indeed correct, I was thinking of AppleTalk (DDP?), a similarly useless idea. It's easy to mix these things up seeing as they're not used that much. I don't know anything about IPX or AppleTalk either.

I don't know how I could play TF2 any other way. When waiting for TF2 to boot up, load a map, or for a 20 second respawn, I can have a quick browse on reddit (or knock one out - TF2 gets me all worked up).

*A Quick Guide *

To set your TF2 launch options, go to Steam. Right click on TF2 > Properties > Set Launch Options. Pick whatever you want from the following list:

  • Turn off the little valve video at the start:

    -novid

  • Turn off IPX support (IPX is similar to IP, but for Macs but you use, IP so you can turn it off):

    -noipx

  • Turn off joystick support - because you don't play with a joystick:

    -nojoy

  • Set TF2 in windowed mode:

    -windowed

  • Disable the border around the TF2 window:

    -noborder

  • Specifiy your resolution (for 1920x1080):

    -h 1080 -w 1920

  • And just for something different. This one apparently saves of FPS. Turns the gore into "junk" items like cogs and toys:

    -sillygibs

There are other launch options available (use your google-fu), but these are the ones I use.

Can a star travel so fast that it can get close and hit earth in a really short time (days, weeks, months, decades)? by QuantuMantiSin askscience

[–]Ph4g3 0 points1 point ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I think you under estimate how much space there is out there.

IANAS (I Am Not A Scientist), so this should be fairly easy to follow. The speed of light is the fastest thing out there. Nothing but light travels that fast. It takes light 4 and a half hours to get to Pluto, the former planet. We are 4.2 light years away from the next star, Proxima Centauri. That's a long way away.

I'd suggest watching "The Wonders Of The Solar System". Professor Brian Cox gives a tangible insight into some of the distances in the solar system and other celestial entities.

On second though, there is another answer to your question I neglected to think of. There is a star about 90 million miles away and it seems to be circling us. It might come at us at any second, but seems to be biding its time. Damn stars.
