But let me ask, do you not agree there is some value in the philosophical conception and/or practical implementation of issues pertaining to positive liberty?

I would say that its harder and harder with a strong government. Government hinders creation of jobs, slows economic growth and stunts the market. I think that if we are compassionate about our fellow man we can make sure that a vast majority will be taken care of. Forcing someone with violence is not (by my definition) is not morally right.

How do you weigh the criticism that the shady practice of circumventing the popular vote by snatching up delegates? Legal? Yes, your practice is legal given the GOP's rules. However, it does not support the populace, nor do Ron Paul's standings.

Democracy has never synchronized the population opinion. Even if we compare promises given or what has been done by the government. The delegate system is bad from the start - I do not support it. But if this is the way we have to do things - we are pidgeonholed.

What kind of valid proof of delegate numbers are there for you to think that Ron Paul even has a chance IF there were to be a brokered convention? Hearsay from YouTube clips or Daily Paul do not count.

All of Romney's delegates are not Romney supporters. Ofcourse - if Santorum and Gingrich vote for Romney, its over.

What happens when the GOP chooses to NOT have a brokered convention? What then? Do you push for him to run as a third party, or [insert your own thoughts]?

We keep spreading the word of liberty - through all canels of communication. Rand Paul 2016.

Back in 2008 the RNC confirmed that a delegate to the national convention is NOT bound to vote for a specific candidate for the nomination. by BigBlueHawkeyein politics

The fact is that taxes are direly important for sustaining the people and the economy.

Not really.

The problems lie with budget allocation and creating revenue; spending is an issue, but a necessity.

No.

Paul wants to gut out as much government as he can, specifically stripping all corporate regulation, and that will lead to companies like Wal-Mart expanding more rapidly than they already have, crushing small business, further delving this country into a plutocracy.

The reason why corporations are so big are due to corruption within the government - not capitalism.

GOP convention chaos: Paul, Romney supporters clash in Nevada by bongtwistin politics

[–]PartTimeGangster 3 points4 points ago

Just because it's allowed doesn't mean it's acceptable, and doesn't mean 'the masses' won't find a way to fuck him over by not voting for a candidate they didn't approve

Speak for yourself buddy - we both know that Ron Paul has a giant grassroot support, compared to Nader.

He'd end up hated much more than Nader among democrats, with his "election stealing" strategy in 2000 (Which consisted of him getting less votes than the libertarian party).

Tinfoil hats - tinfoil hats everywhere. This campaign will influence the GOP to come - his son will probably have a better chance than Paul to win next GOP presidential candidate.

It is not - since the rules show clearly that the delegate in question is not bound by the poll of the masses. Thats the whole point!

Can you blame a person that is not competent for their wrongdoings? Ofcourse I dont suggest that parents are incompetent but still their actions can not be blamed - since the bullies in question are actively doing the harassment.

[–]PartTimeGangster 6 points7 points ago

No one deserves mental or physical harassment. Maybe the parent made it worse but they are absolutely not at fault.

For example - if you leave your wallet in your car and it gets stolen; the victim may have been gullible but is never at fault.

You obviously don't understand that one inevitably leads to the other in the absence of a strong federal government.

the government is the problem for the fucking start. shit.

Then where's your evidence? Your argument is invalid.

troll, or just stupid.

So you want it for free?

Nope. Stop putting words into my mouth.

The private sector, apparently.

No, thats the government. If you really think MORE government will solve this then you are wrong.

For those offenses, no. I think that as soon as you get the private sectors' influence out of government, you will see that your government agrees.

Come over to r/anarcho_capitalism where there is no government.

For those offenses, no. I think that as soon as you get the private sectors' influence out of government, you will see that your government agrees.

What the law says =/ morally right. Murder of homosexuals was completly legal in medieval times - but you (and any other sensible human) would call it murder, now would you?

Tax money is spent by the government on services that you enjoy every day, whether you want to or not.

Pablo Escobar opened schools and build roads - but would you call his activities moral? Dont forget that the government forces me (indirectly) to use these services due to regulating other industries and taxing the ones that are in existence.

Taxation does not fit the definition of theft.

Yes it does. (FROM WIKIPEDIA)

In common usage, theft is the taking of another person's property without that person's permission or consent with the intent to deprive the rightful owner of it

Seems quite valid to me.

I've already pointed that out.

Proof please - your claim does not hold any merit if you dont back it up.

You are not advocating for negative rights, you are advocating exceptionalism.

What?

So you agree that it would not?

I claim that it is completly feasible and doable with a voluntary taxation for society to exist without this "critical failure resulting in collapse".

So you admit you cannot prove your claim?

I haven't claimed shit still. How am I supposed to claim anything that I havent even claimed?

"I Think Ron Paul Just Won Iowa!" - Rachel Maddow, April 23, 2012 by plajjerin politics

[–]PartTimeGangster 0 points1 point ago

You obviously don't understand that one inevitably leads to the other in the absence of a strong federal government.

my sides, they hurt so badly I cant even breathe.

My proof is that no society exists that uses your system.

That isnt a proof. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Your argument is invalid.

No, but it's funny how you think saying the same thing over and over again despite the fact that it is wrong is a good debate tactic.

How is a state - that threathens with violence and imprisonment to take my property not supression? Dont misunderstand me - I do agree some good and services given by the government is great. But no one should be forced to pay for it.

Drugs are illegal because big money interests like breweries and tobacco want to keep you hooked on their substances.

Marijuana was illegalized because there was a notion that blacks would breed with white women. Add that hemp could be used to several things - that scares the private sector. Lobbying and propaganda ensues and it gets banned.

But disregard that - who, can really decide what I can or cant put into my body? And you really think that it would be better that we threathen, intimidate and extort people that do use drugs? Pay heavy fines? Imprisonment?

And you think less government is the answer.

Less government is always the answer.

You have claimed, whether you are willing to admit it or not, that voluntary taxation would work. Prove it.

I have not - I have just claimed that taxes = theft. Prove me wrong.

Well you certainly didn't claim they would be better off,

Absolutely right. But what makes you think they would be worse off?

it's clear you only care about yourself and would prefer a system that made your life better at the expense of every other human being on the planet,

Two wrongs dont make a right and believing negative rights = misantropy? Jesus christ.

you DID advocate for a voluntary system as something that would function

I did not claim it would function at all actually. Stop putting words into my mouth.

Okay, that's what you want. I am assuming that you do NOT want for society to collapse in a few years and for everyone to die in chaos, but if I'm wrong about that, let me know.

Thats so incredibly stupid on so many points my brain hurts. My sides are destroyed prior from this debate, mind you.

So, you have implicitly claimed that your system would be stable.

Not at all.

You are wrong. Unless you can prove otherwise.

Absense of evidence is not the evidence of absense. You still have the burden of proof.

Quit throwing a temper tantrum and put some substance into your arguments.

Does not matter how much substance they have - you will still dodge the relevant question and play it off in a moral speech to preserve the status quo.

"I Think Ron Paul Just Won Iowa!" - Rachel Maddow, April 23, 2012 by plajjerin politics

[–]PartTimeGangster -1 points0 points ago

Well you've seemed to admit that you have no interest in caring for your fellow man,

fuck off - I'll gladly pay a collective tax to make sure that everyone has health care. But that will NOT be extorted from me.

so I was right the first time I called you disgusting

So you are implying that we have a unified code that disliking taxes = disgusting? Are you mentally instable?

"a country is only as good as it treats its worst off citizens," but it should be. I care about the poor.

I do too - but two wrongs does not make a right.

You want a source to prove that you didn't make it on your own? I don't need to cite that. It's common knowledge. Have you ever called the police, driven on a road, or interacted with someone educated by the government?

I dont have ANY other choice now do I? In Sweden (where I grew up) schools, health care and other government industries are heavily subsidized and favored in the market - making it nearly impossible for any kind of competition to occur. The last biggest companies that has been created was before the 70s - none has come after that.

Don't complain about the few thousand that die in the war when Ron Paul doesn't want the government to subsidize health care and 45,000 people die every year because they don't have health insurance.

So the Iraqiis does not count? 300 000? Ring a bell?

Ron Paul doesn't want the government to subsidize health care and 45,000 people die every year because they don't have health insurance.

The government is unable to make it work effectively - since the corporations are favored in the market (observe that these corporations are CREATED by the government from the fucking start). Look at medicare and medicaid, they will grow like cancer tumors and bankrupt the country.

Political donations have nothing to do with taxation. And the fact that you are so care-free about Paul's acceptance of hate money speaks loudly about your character as well.

Hahhhhah. Oh god. You accept that Obama receives MILLIONS from rich bankers in wall street to run his campaign (to further run the corruption in the government) but you get your panties in a twist because Paul gets 3k fråm the KKK? My sides are exploding. oh god. Both of the KKK and the wall street bankers are just as fucking morally bankrupt - get some balls.

You've intentionally distorted my arguments and tried to distract from the issues so I guess you don't have any real substance. It was nice debating with you, troll.

HEY GUYS, I SAID THAT HE WAS A TROLL - I WON THE DEBATE? HEY GUYS??

You are beyond all salvation my friend - dra åt helvete med dig, kuksugare. Like we say in sweden.

United States. The corporations are the ones doing the oppression and they do it because they have an overflow of resources.

You obviously dont know what capitalism or corporatism is, nor can you differentiate between them.

Prove me wrong. Go somewhere and start your own country.

Youre the one making a claim that a society based on negative rights will result in a collapse. You have the burden of proof, not me. I havent claimed anything.

You're embarrassed that you got shown up by a wikipedia link?

You linked opinions, shit you didnt even have the courtesy to link statistics.

USA and most countries in Europe.

Taxes = supression Drug illegalization = supression

(among many others)

Prove me wrong. Go somewhere and start your own country.

I haven't claimed anything - you have the burden of proof. Shit, I havent even claimed that the collective or the masses will be better off with a voluntary society.

Demonstrably unreliable. None of these three things functions at a level close to adequate. When they do, then we can start talking about removing the government safety nets. Not before.

Source please - give me one example where society has an overflow of resources, the state does not supress its populace (economically or socially) or favor corporations. If you cant find a source - then your argument is not valid.

My experience indicates otherwise. The majority of Americans are morons.

Thats up to them

A society based on negative rights devolves into total social collapse and ultimately extinction of the race in short order.

Oh god my sides.

Of course not, anybody who actually stops to think about it knows it would fail quickly and catastrophically.

Then you link wikipedia as a critique. Im fucking losing it.

Exactly as it should.

Its wrong.

Also known as egoism - so called because you have to have a massive ego to think it is a good idea.

I have a massive ego? I just think that resorting to violence in order to accomplish things in society is immoral and ineffective.

USA and most countries in Europe.

My sides. They hurt.

See above. Nobody is currently dumb enough to try it, but you are free to prove them and me wrong.

HEY GUYS IF YOU HAVE A VOLUNTARY TAX SYSTEM NOBODY IS GOING TO PAY AND EVERYONE IS GOING TO DIE ON THE STREETS, IF THERE ARE ANY LOL.

Demonstrably unreliable. None of these three things functions at a level close to adequate. When they do, then we can start talking about removing the government safety nets. Not before.

That's wrong. Stealing does not justify taking resources from another human being.

A country is only as good as it treats its worst off citizens.

Is that a fact?

he government educated you, protects you from disasters (FEMA, FDIC, hospitals will treat you if you're dying and cannot pay, police/EMTs/fire departments, Social Security, etc.), built roads you use, and countless other things.

Because I dont have any other options and/or the government regulated the industry to prohibit it. Taxes are like salts on the wound.

Nobody has ever made it on their own. Nobody will ever make it on their own

Source please

It's a matter of how much should the government take.

I disagree

I don't know. It was your point.

Drug war =/ Marijuana. There are thousands kinds of drugs.

"Some police officers are corrupt, so let's stop having police." It's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Are you implying that Ron Paul wants to take away the police? You are delusional.

You're right, it isn't up to me. But it does speak to his character. And he has to deal with public opinion. Speaking of which...

You're right - its better to wage wars where hundred of thousands die and justify it.

This isn't a matter of taxation. Paul took money from the KKK and created a symbolic relationship between him and white supremacists.

This isn't a matter of taxation. Obama extorted money from the population and created symbolic relationship between him and the military industry complex. Poor judgement and lack of character on Obama's part.
