Instead of addressing these Bills one by one, as they keep coming up every few months with a new name, I feel like we need a general and all encompassing message.

We should be telling our elected officials that we expect more from them when they're about to preside over the fate of one of the greatest tools of this generation. We expect them to read the Bill, to understand the Bill (as in, not read the title and shrug it off as something "only nerds would understand"), to weigh the positives and negatives and, especially, potential hazards and/or breaches of civil rights contained within. We expect them to not rely solely on information given to them by congressional lobbyists, but also the testimony of people who helped to shape the Internet into what it has become today.

Can we apply that statement to some people that actually matter (no offense, reddit gen-pop)?

You know, instead of telling people on reddit that they don't get "an opinion", can we apply that to Congress instead? Here is the difference... people's opinions on reddit fall off the front page and are forgotten, where as, Congress' opinions turn into laws and that's how we end up with shit like SOPA.

Now, here is the caveat... like a lot of other people I place more worth on some of my older cards, which have stabilized in value, than the newer ones in my want list which might tank in the next few months like this guy. The Force of Wills, Wastelands, Gaea's Cradles, Lion's Eye Diamonds and a few others have never been played. So if you offer me a trade that's monetarily "even up" I'm probably not going to go for it. Does that mean I expect $150 worth of cards for a Force of Will - no. It just means that Tamiyo x2 isn't going to do it.

Let's just say that he did exactly what you said, manned up, puffed out his chest and told the store owner he wasn't going to draw, he wasn't going to split the prize, etc. What, exactly, do you think would stop the store owner from pulling some "disorderly conduct" stunt and sending him packing with nothing to show for it? Obviously the guy isn't above making up rules or doing off the wall shit that benefits himself.

This was a shitty situation any way you look at it, but I'm not sure that he would have gotten any better results with the man-up method. Either way, he would have been contacting WotC.

However... if I send in six Force of Wills in exchange for 65 "Puca Points" each and the website torpedoes due to lack of use/interest or they just decide to scoop and steal everyone's shit, I'll have 390 points of worthlessness and they have my $390 worth of cards.

It sounds good in theory, but trading items with legitimate value for illegitimate currency isn't a smart move on anyone's part.
