What were the days after 9/11 like? by argonautsin AskReddit

[–]NotANoveltyUser -5 points-4 points ago

I would say the Taliban have killed about 10 Afghans for every 1 Americans have. The difference being, primarily, Afghans that Americans kill are generally hostile. The Taliban doesn't care. They kill indiscriminately. Innocent people. People that support them even.

Makes me realize, someday I am going to have to have this conversation with my daughter, explain to her everything that happened and why...

Same here. I first heard what was happening on the bus ride home. All I remember was "plane crash", "World Trade Center", and "attack".

I was glued to the TV.. well, for 2 years... I learned everything I could, as fast as I could. I never wanted to be ignorant again. I watched the initial bombings of Afghanistan, I watched the Shock & Awe in Iraq, and paid attention to everything I hear about since.

While you being only 10, it wasn't you personally, but I want to thank Canada for their aid during the first days.

For those who didn't know, while America was scrambling defenses, and blocking all incoming traffic, Canada opened all of its airports to flights that we were forced to turn away. Their hospitality went largely unnoticed, but I thank you.

It united the world like World War II couldn't. Former Soviet bloc, Communist nations, the UN, and ANZUS all pulled whatever measures necessary to come to their ally's aid.

Even if only for a short time, never before has the world been united in such a way.

I lived in a rural area at the time, and we were about the same, emotionally.

We lived about 30 miles from a nuclear power plant. Everyone became paranoid it was some sort of target. I had trouble sleeping for weeks. I remember the radio playing nightly tributes... for months.

That is a completely false statement. The Taliban killed more people before the US entered Afghanistan, than they have since.

It is a shame, really. GWB was given an alliance like the world had never seen, and he used it for shit like Iraq, and forced it to crumble... Fool.

Plenty. I remember we visited once when I was about 10. Had lots of fun playing all the games they had at Excalibur. Its like a carnival, but indoors, and brighter.

No. I don't know if that's specifically because of deployment status, or because in Islamic countries (technically) alcohol is illegal.

My fiancee wants me to post pictures of myself on r/Gonewild, is this normal? by Sarahbellum820in AskReddit

[–]NotANoveltyUser -12 points-11 points ago

No, I am just not a fucking hornball. She won't get anything out of it, and her fiancee is fucking stupid.

If she wanted to post nude pics of herself, I am sure she would have became a porn star. Other than that, /r/gonewild is just a bunch of sluts, as far as I am concerned.

What is a good 2 person drinking game that is so fun that it will entice a third person to start drinking? by YouTastyFrostedFlakein AskReddit

Futurama Drinking game.

Whenever Bender drinks, you drink. Whenever Fry drinks, you drink.

Or, you can watch Fox News, and drink every time they say "Mitt Romney".
