TROPHY CASE

Do any of you have an awesome uncle as well? by ANatalein trees

[–]Ninjamonkeysd -6 points-5 points ago

Yeah, i live in Orange County. Weed that you would want to smoke IS NOT $40 an eighth. The usual going rate is $60 for top shelf with most (non venice beach/los angeles) spots selling the average eighth for $50. Yes, you might know of a spot where you can get awesome bud for $40 an eighth. I was a budtender for a couple years and ranked in the top 10 for weedmaps. I visited over 400 dispensarys in California before I realized that EVERY spot out there is usually pretty lame and the trick is to find that one exception to the rule in your area, just like every other consumer decision you make on the day to day.

Aww its ok bud. Ive been smoking for almost 16 years. I have broken and lost countless pieces over the years. You dont remember the pieces as much as the memories you made using them. So dont sweat it dude. I learned how to roll because I broke a piece and HAD to learn out of necessity. So everything works out in the end.

god bless you for covering up your name tape and patches. I see too many people post pictures of their trip to the beach and forget to cover their tape.

I never see any Minnesota ents posting any trees, so here is what I just picked up (and no it doesn't have a name). by Forever420in trees

[–]Ninjamonkeysd 1 point2 points ago

I personally like the "and no it doesn't have a name" addition to the end of the title. Coming from California where EVERY gram I smoke has a fancy name, I gotta give it to you for smoking something that you have no idea what it is. I mean, you know its trees, but thats about it. Before I got my medical rec I was like that. But now, I feel like a weed snob for not wanting to smoke something I dont know anything about. Looks like some dank ass shit though.

I rolled a nug in hash oil and let it sit in my kief bottle for a month. I present you with Colorado Caviar by technolizzardin trees

[–]Ninjamonkeysd 0 points1 point ago

the shitty thing is, your kief bottle isnt glass im guessing. Had you put the nug in an airtight glass jar, it would have cured in the process and been a better smoke.

I got myself a Spaceballs poster signed by Mr Brooks at a screening in LA a few years ago. What killed it for me was noticing that Mel wears Velcro shoes. He is still the performer he always was on stage, once off, he acts like any other old person. Still a hell of a guy though. He stood there and signed autographs for 20 min.

[–]Ninjamonkeysd 12 points13 points ago

This actually happened to me this weekend. I walked into a gas station where I live to get some blunts. I ended up in front of a couple of black guys. When I got to the front of the line, I got some Zig Zag blunt wraps and a pack of strawberry Swishers. Under his breath, one of the guys behind me said " oh, ok. very nice." I turned around and I saw him nodding his head and smiling with approval. I live in Orange County, so im sure he wasn't expecting a tall white guy to make that purchase. Plus, it was even better when I turned around and was wearing a shirt that says " Not an Accurate Representation of a White Person" on it.

How to get started making films? (x-post from r/filmmakers) by LoganLandin WeAreTheFilmMakers

[–]Ninjamonkeysd 0 points1 point ago

starting up? I would try some of those 2 or 3 day film competitions personally (48hourfilm.com). You will meet a bunch of people who are too starting out making movies as well as people who have been in the industry for years. Personally, I've produced/directed 15 short films through competitions like these in the past. I've gotten a chance to work with people who were light-years ahead of me in terms of experience as well as I've gotten the opportunity to show a few kids the ropes of a set. PLUS, it will teach you a huge lesson. How to make due with nothing while meeting a deadline. Meeting people is easy, getting everyone to work together nicely is the challenge.

Awesome! Im just saying this. You spent $3500 a year to get those jobs. Infact. I too went to film school! Only for a year. AND Ive actually gotten a few facebook messages from him ( my former professor) asking if I can get HIM work. So I guess in the end its all on you. Like I said before. If your parents are going to PAY OUT OF THEIR pocket to send you to college, fine, go. Just know that if you are paying out of your pocket, you would be better off spending that money elsewhere.

Edit: Really? ALL your jobs youve gotten through film school? All of em? And you want to tell THIS guy that film school is worth it? It really sounds like you are dependant on them to get work, if you ask me.

USC, UCLA, NYU, Columbia. I know people who graduated from ALL of these schools. They are ALL unemployed, except one who went to UCLA. Film schools are good for only one thing, meeting people. They way I see it you can spend $100,000 on UCLA or USC film school and your final film. Or spend that money LIVING in L.A and producing your own short film for festival entry. The money you WASTE on film school is money that can be much better spent. Shit, spend that money on everything you need. Cameras, computers, SPFX gear, lighting, sound... all that money you wasted on some hack who couldn't cut it in the industry is now gone, you could have had all those toys and real world experience. I get that argument all the time from my friends who's parents paid for them to go to film school. Film school is great for meeting people and its great for your contacts. Well, that's the only argument these people usually have. I made more contacts working those 4 years while my friends were in college. They all got out and asked me who would hire them. They basically had to start at the bottom all over again. PA's for the next 2 years while they built up REAL WORLD contacts. I guess it all boils down to how rich your parents are though. If they are loaded, and can afford to pay your college and bills and rent while you build your contact list, then fine, that's awesome. But if you are the one paying your bills, there is NO NEED to go to college to learn how to shoot.

  1. No. Infact, Hell fucking no. Dont waste the money. Read books on film making.
  2. Yes. Learn to edit and light and shoot. Buy a camera, any camera, and start shooting. Take High School drama. Get into that shit. learn to build sets, light them and throw together productions.
  3. The best resource you can have is your own personality. 99% of this game is making contacts and using them.
  4. Actors are crazy. All of them. The faster you learn this, the more heartache and sleepless nights. There are also 2 types of people in this business. The ones who will talk and talk and talk your ear off about a project and the other kind are too busy filming to talk themselves up. Try to be the latter.
