If you're staying the night, you'll probably be at [Furnace Creek](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furnace_Creek,_California); it would be quite easy to set up a telescope on the park or golf course there, which should be dark enough. Those were always my favorite spots to just lie on my back in the grass and stargaze. Don't worry too much about wildlife. There isn't much. Have fun!

I've had good experience with artsy/indie games, most recently Limbo, Pixeljunk Shooter, Braid, Portal. Console games are great for introducing new players to games because you can hang out on the couch and share a game, and pass the controller in single player games. If you want to get her into FPSs, definitely go with something cooperative like Left for Dead. (protip: don't leave her to die.)

I've done this with honey and it's fantastic. Mostly because my bachelor-pad kitchen was lacking any other type of sugar, but hey it works.
