A week after closing, Dartmouth corner store covered with messages from young shoppers by ferngutsin halifax

We just moved from the area. I miss Dartmouth. This was a perfect little store for our old neighbourhood and Mr. Bowman should always be proud of the place he established, despite business being business.

We wish him all the best!

I am so angry, upset and my self-confidence is gone. All because of two women. by ughhhangryswimmerin TwoXChromosomes

Lady! I wish I could swim 2.5km

Those women don't know you and judgement is an easy trap to fall into when we are envious of someone. It's nothing more than shallow cruelty.

Please push the immature comments out of your mind. Hope that one day they'll become better people and feel regret for ever behaving like that. You sound like you have a beautiful relationship with your dude and a beautiful view of yourself and how awesome is that!

...and I'm serious, I would love to be able to swim 2.5 km without drowning :D Hugs!

2X, anyone done a non-traditional wedding? I'm ruffling feathers and just trying to get everything together by Burlapinin TwoXChromosomes

[–]MereB 1 point2 points ago

I've done it. It was great, we footed the finances ourselves and planned everything ourselves. Do it the way you and your man want to and don't look back!

If your family continues with emails, remind them that a) they've had their weddings (if they have) and b) it's YOUR day and you can do whatever you want with it and they have to deal or you know try and be happy and excited for you and your guy celebrating yourselves in WHATEVER WAY YOU LIKE.

Congratulations Burlapin! Enjoy your day, it's so soon! :)

Really...

I wish sometimes there was some magical hammer, much like Thor's, that a person could just summon down from the sky to bop some common knowledge/common sense into an individual. Simply to avoid feeling obligated to have that discussion with them.

I'm taking a leap and pursuing a career as a professional painter. Just wanted to see what my fellow ladies thought of my work so far. by FalafelWaffelin TwoXChromosomes

I graduated from a school of very painterly profs too. 10 years ago. Lines and definition won't detract from the lovely qualities of your work, just make them a little more WOW :)

The fifth image is by far my favourite.

Your technique is good for sell-able art as is your liking for hearty, saturated colours. My only criticisms would be to clean up your lines a little, I think it'll only add to the illusion of your subject matter.

Best of luck in your leap! :)

Baby Fever? by [deleted]in TwoXChromosomes

You have oodles of time for babies to become realities. Enjoy your daydreams though. If you're into researching names, this was/is my favourite etymology site.

What are you studying for your Master's?

I suppose this is relevant-ish. My bestest most beloved friend completed her Masters in Classical Botany a couple of years ago and she and her husband had their first baby (a gorgeous chubby little girl, who I can't wait to smooooosh when we get to meet her for the first time next month!) together this past November. They've been together for ten years and she'd just turned 28 a week before having the baby. That was the right timing for them.

You'll figure out the right timing for you :)

You'll find friends on 2XC who won't look at you like you've got two heads when it comes to baby rabies :)

I am a parent. And there are moments where my kids make me feel like a lovely weekend in the looney bin would be oh so perfect and restful. But the rough moments never outweigh the happy times. Yes, they are messy, loud and apparently selectively deaf sometimes (as demonstrated by our 3.5 year old this evening) but truly it's like living in the craziest, funniest, most heart-warming comedy you can imagine.

Your long hair was beautiful! I wish mine had that thickness and wave. You're so kind to donate it :) I wish you speedy hair growth so you get to a length you feel like you know what do to with it again :D
