Max Payne 3 PC System Requirements: 35GB HDD Space, 2-16GB Recommended RAM - Jesus Christ! by Auto_aim1in gaming

[–]MeRollsta 6 points7 points ago

Do not be alarmed by the ridiculously heavy requirements posted right next to the minimum. They are by no means the recommended requirements, and simply means that all CPU's/graphic cards/RAM within that range are supported. Even i was taken aback when i first saw the GTX 680 on the last, which i immediately assumed to be the recommended requirements at first. On further reading, I realized that Rockstar was just pulling our legs. A build which meets those right end requirements will cost well over $2000 and you can't possibly expect a multiplatform game to demand that much.

Unfortunately however, the 35 GB space is not a joke. Guess the 360 version spans a minimum of 3 discs.

Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition developer interested in tackling Icewind Dale as well. by MeRollstain Games

Well, if Baldur's Gate does well, I'm sure they'll digg up several other games which use the Infinity Engine. It's a shame that AD&D CRPGs have disappeared into obscurity this generation. If i recall, the last major release was Neverwinter Nights 2, and that was way back in 2006. Regardless, I would love to revisit some of the classics. Baldur's Gate and Planescape Torment are just as good today as they were when they released imo.

I can't wait to see how the Enhanced Edition of Baldur's Gate turns out. It's great to have the developers stick to a modified version of the original engine, instead of building a new one from scratch. Baldur's Gate was a technical marvel when it first released, and its artwork shines through even today. Too bad we haven't even seen a single screenshot of the enhanced edition.

While an enhanced edition of Icewind Dale does sound great, what i would really want is an enhanced version of Planescape Torment which has one of the best narratives in any form of media, let alone games. Just thinking about it is making me want to play through it again. I think I'll do just that.

If you have yet to pick up Mass Effect 3, then avoid the PS3 version at all costs. It suffers from severe frame rate dips just like the demo. by MeRollstain Games

Well, i see your point. Poor optimizations mostly refer to cases where games that aren't all that visually impressive don't run so well. That's not the case to I guess that the developers were just unwilling to make any compromises. I've come across far worse cases of erratic frame rates in games. Heck, even the standard 30 fps on consoles are difficult to go back to when you've gotten used to 60 fps on PCs, it will always stick out like a sore thumb.

What I was trying to say was that Dark Souls runs nearly identical on both the PS3 and Xbox 360. Sure, the game suffers from some frame rate issues, but that doesn't mean that it's poorly optimized. The developers just needed more than what the current generation of consoles could offer. Regardless, the game still looks phenomenal.

The PS3's architecture is drastically different from that of the 360 or the PC. Only when the game is first developed for the PS3 and ported over to the 360 and PC do you find optimal results. Ex: Castlevania and Dark Souls. The other way around almost always ends with the PS3 receiving another poorly optimized port. Only a few developers have managed to pull that off.

Yes, even the final version does. That's was the entire point of my post. Guess i should have rephrased the title better. Mass Effect 3 has no problems hitting the 60 fps mark on te PC even with high settings on mid range settings. Just shows how much the consoles are lagging behind in terms of processing power.

Assassin's Creed III will apparently feature a four player co-op mode. What are your thoughts on the matter? by MeRollstain Games

[–]MeRollsta[S] -1 points0 points ago

Yes, the listing has been modified on Xbox.com. But the fact that they pulled it down only confirms that it was an accidental leak. Doubt if MS would ever put up a faulty description. Regardless, I'll be picking it for the single player alone. If they manage to pull off the rest, it just counts as a bonus for me. I hope they don't delay the PC release again, but history always repeats itself.
