TROPHY CASE

[Form Check] Deadlift - 295x3 and 315x3 by t333bin weightroom

[–]MadScientist420 0 points1 point ago

Riptoe says that there is really no need to lean that far back at the end of the lift, just finish straight up. Powerlifters will do that but only because it helps to show lockout during competition.

Should I do P90X or bulk up first? by afro88in P90X

[–]MadScientist420 0 points1 point ago

Bulk. You should be eating at a surplus of 500 Cal a day with 1g protein/lb body weight per day. If you don't, gains will be slow and you won't add much body mass

Strip Sets for Pushups: A Good Idea? by Taz2010in P90X

[–]MadScientist420 0 points1 point ago

I made my own for about $6.00. Got two 26lb lead bricks for free and bought a cheap surplus military vest to strap them onto using homemade Velcro straps. I put the vest on so the bricks sit on my back towards my shoulders.

I went to a 52lb vest after awhile. Definitely helped increase strength gains after mostly plateauing on unweighted ones

Nice. OP is referring to Bradford Pear trees which are all over the engineering mall at Purdue.

Riptoe says: The bar should be inline with the middle of your foot (vertically). Bend your knees forward until basically touching the bar. Back straight. Arms just outside your legs.

$109 Billion 41 GW solar/ 21 GW nuclear plan to power a third of Saudi Arabia so they can keep exporting oil: domestic energy use amongst highest in world by themightymekonin energy

[–]MadScientist420 1 point2 points ago*

Think about it. They make a net profit selling oil instead of burning it to make electricity and fresh water using solar and nuke. We should do the same with wind as well and cut out the middle man.

For more than a decade, scientists have tried to improve lithium-based batteries by replacing the graphite in one terminal with silicon, which can store 10x the charge. But after just a few cycles, the silicon structure would crack and crumble, rendering the battery useless. Not anymore. by God_Wills_Itin science

no, batteries will continue due to irreversibly degrade. / electrochemical engineer

Edit: sorry. Misread your question. The capacity decay rate is likely fairly linear to 85%.

6 weeks into SS (first time BB training ever, previously did p90x workouts for a while) and busted through the 5RM 700lb club this week! 5'11" 175lb

(All 5RM) BP 200lb, OHP 135lb, DL 275lb, low bar squat 250lb

[form check] Low bar squat (350lbs) - valid competition rep? by coalWaterin weightroom

[–]MadScientist420 0 points1 point ago

Ok. I'm a rookie on SS and I'm trying to look at all these form check threads to make sure my understanding is correct.

Anyway, good work on the lift. I'm at 245# right now, 5'11" 175#. Been doing it for about 5 weeks now.

Is he leaning forward too much? The bar looks to be at the front of his feet (vertically) not in the middle.

Consider reading the wiki page on it before attempting to prove me wrong. pressure is a tensor. fluids can be under tension rather than compression. Negative absolute pressures are possible and exist nature. my phd thermo prof did his phd on it. See bullet point two negative pressure

hey, instead of attempting to insult me with your elementary understanding of physics, how about you at least to a Google search before you reply.

No, I'm not. Negative absolute pressures are possible and exist nature. my phd thermo prof did his phd on it. See bullet point two negative pressure

[–]MadScientist420 0 points1 point ago

no, its not. there is nothing thermodynamically infeasible about negative pressures. all large trees utilized negative pressures to carry water to the top.
