One Piece wont be anything of material value.

Each one of the SH have their own personal treasure, many other characters have their own 'treasure' (e.g. Zoro becoming the world's greatest swordsman, Whitebeard wanting a family etc...)

One Piece is Gold Roger's treasure. It wont be money, it wont have a value.

I'd be surprised if Sanji didn't cook with sea salt, what with it being so abundant and all. It's ok. we only have to wait another 10 years before One Piece is finished, by that time we'll know everything. :)

Well I think it must be a combination of the two, or specifically salt water from the sea.

The reason why I think is is because in Thriller Bark they make a point of showing that some of the food is salted which would kill the zombies. But Luffy eats masses of meat, some of which will be salted, and doesn't have any ill effects.

Also, the salt in the food would mix with the water in his body already (or mix with any DF user's water) thus making salt water. We have a lot fo salt water in us already (why your tears are salty). So I don't think it's any old salt water that would effect them.
