Research: 44% of Facebook users will ‘never’ click sponsored ads by webibizin technology

Even better. I bought ads to my personal website when I was looking for a job and got into 8 job interviews. I'm still with the company that hired me from that campaign. Spent 80 pounds.

Question: I am young, thin, and physically fit. Why is standing for a few hours so much more tiring and painful than a long run? by ambitionxin Fitness

yhea, this will go away most probably. I remember starting my bartender job. The first 2 weeks were just painful but it got much better after that.

Thanks, this could come in handy in the future but for this project I have to use a picture background as the shape I need is very irregular.

Go for it! They are pretty awesome.

Uglies of Reddit, how do you deal with being unattractive? by Fugly_McUggoin AskReddit

[–]LondonLad 30 points31 points ago*

Here's a big one. GET IN SHAPE. Everyone, yes, even you can have a ripped, awesome body with exercise and some simple tweaks to your daily diet.

90% of people who call themselves ugly are simply average but full with skewed beauty perceptions due to the ridiculously hot (and usually photoshoped) people we see in media every day.

Work the hell out! Nobody is unattractive when you have health, energy and confidence that comes with getting in shape.

Or keep weeping online and eat some more brownies while playing video games. Life is what you make from it, folks.

*Edit. Also become more interesting as others have pointed out. Get a hobby. Read books. Your attractiveness after the first impression is more about your winning personality than looks.

As a tall male w/ a short male friend I just had my world shattered into what short guys have to put up with! Why is society so cruel? by MrTrampStampin AskReddit

Being naturally skinny is actually a blessing in disguise. Hit the gym, eat enough healthy protein and you'll be a ripped god in 4 months! /r/fitness, bro

My gym says no chalk is allowed, what can I use? by teek22in Fitness

[–]LondonLad 0 points1 point ago

Of course they do. Just get some that are not heavily padded. I've been using some very cheap Nike gloves made from suede like material for the last 5 months. They are not thicker than 1mm and there is absolutely no negative side effect from using them whatsoever. The only difference they make is that you are not gripping the bar with your slippery-sweaty hands any more.

Reddit, what aspects do you think a website would require to rival a social network as large as Facebook? by joeinlumain AskReddit

[–]LondonLad 0 points1 point ago

If anything will come even close to replacing Facebook it will be a very different platform in its very core.

Small tweaks or couple of alternative features just won't cut it anymore. Facebook made the winning move by becoming the de-facto online identity platform for the whole web via their API. There are so many other platforms and services out there that rely on Facebook API that the site has become a vital part of the global internet architecture, just like google's search function.

In order to over take FB you will have to compete in a game that's 2 levels above what FB is doing. Think implanted microchips that deliver web content directly to your brain. Think stuff of the future.

With an army of the best thinkers and developers money can buy FB will not be outdone by simply adding circles or offering a kinder T&C page.

Can I ask a potential employer to speed up the process? by is_this_trickeryin jobs

[–]LondonLad 6 points7 points ago

Accept the job you've been offered. Quit as soon as you are offered a better one.

If the first interviewers gave you a clear overview of the timings you shouldn't rush them. You can however always show your interest and try politely inquiring how is the process going and what are your chances; it will show them that you care.

Finding a job with little online "social" presence. Good idea or bad? by dont_mind_the_matterin jobs

[–]LondonLad 2 points3 points ago

Depends on what exactly you want to do in tech field. If it's hardcore programming / math job than you might as well live without social media presence and prove your worth with your knowledge. If you are getting into anything business / start-up / marketing related people will judge you by your online footprint or the lack of it.

Look at people who do the job you're after. If it seems like all of them have blogs / twitter and what not it's a good idea to get on board.

I also used to think twitter is ugly and useless. The truth is, you have to make useful. Follow some truly interesting folk and suddenly twitter is is still ugly but useful. Same thing with tumblr.

TL;DR If people in you industry are active online - get on board, you will probably score bonus points.

Have an idea for tape.com? by projektxin startups

[–]LondonLad 1 point2 points ago

Definitely. Look how successful Louis C.K. was. Indie distribution is clearly the future, especially for young talent. Kids on youtube with millions of video views that will never get a record deal can still sell metric tons of records to other kids. They just need a simple and cool platform to do so. Expensive thing to pull off for sure, but hey.

Have an idea for tape.com? by projektxin startups

[–]LondonLad 2 points3 points ago

I'd think about music distribution. It works as far as the semantics go and the domain has a far more massive potential than selling sticky household items in my opinion.

Obviously you'd need a good hook. Place for indie bands to sell their records? Hipsters would love that.
