If that song was written after Paul Gray died(Corey Taylor's (singer) close friend from his other band, Slipknot). Then that actually makes a ton of sense and is possibly what it's about.

The pearl, it's at most 90 pages and it was absolutely unbearable. The scenery depicted was dull, the end I found predictable, and the pages of completely pointless descriptions killed me. It probably didn't help that the bitchiest most demonic teacher I'd ever had made us read it. Oh well.
