i agree. achieving the look is easy. (once u have a camera/lens that produces this nice DOF). basically the pic has desaturated & slightly shifted colors and a vignette.

i like the composition of [2]. the [1] has a nice bokeh and focus...too bad half of the bird is missing. the rest seems average to me. pic [3] has almost crushed blacks on the trees...using a "reduced, gentle" flash (preferably TTL) would light up the shadows a bit. i am a beginner in digital photography too ;)
