How would you describe the DMT experience to someone that uses mushrooms occasionally? by krevencyin askdrugs

[–]LSDream 0 points1 point ago

As mushrooms are to weed, so DMT is to mushrooms.

In other words, not really at all like it. There is heaps of body load, it feels like you get squeezed and then you hear the tone that sounds sinusoidal. Everything kinda shakes apart and you see all kinds of interesting shit, often beings and often with the sense of half remembered familiarity. There is also often a rushing sensation about it.

I've done it twice (at breakthrough level) and have no real urge to go back there, I don't feel like I got much out of it. It was very quick and intense, it felt like I should have been frightened but never got time to be, sort of like the feeling you get on massive rollercoasters.

Compared to things like mushrooms and LSD that often give me insights into problems in my life I though DMT was very beautiful but lacked that practicality. That being said many people go all pseudo religious about alternate dimensions and other psuedoscientific nonsense.

Of my friends, 3 have done it and decided it was fun but not life transforming in the same way that a good MDMA or LSD experience is. One went completely off the rails (He was a bit of an idiot already, thought horroscopes were real etc.)

What does it mean to be "human"? by bankfacein InsightfulQuestions

[–]LSDream 6 points7 points ago

Human individuality allows us to create art and literature and music and create things no animal can

I don't know if we can say that, it is pretty clear that gorillas can't write a novel but fundamentally all we are doing is seeking novelty. Animal behaviors continue to surprise us, human behavior tends to be more complex but that doesn't mean similar things aren't happening in other creatures minds.

ALA does other things in the body without being converted to DHA. It can be most studies place it at an efficiency of 1-7% but it has positive results for the reduction of heart disease and neuroprotective effects. It also scores better at combating depression.

how are sites inaccessible other than through a tor browser? by spongeratin onions

[–]LSDream 1 point2 points ago

So I don't know the technical details BUT from what I learned years ago in highschool networking.

When you enter a URL that information is sent to a Domain Name Server (DNS) which then checks against its database and sends your computer the IP address of the server.

When you are using TOR and you enter the .onion URL the TOR equivalent of a DNS points your computer at it. If you aren't asking this database then you wont get a useful response and if you aren't routing through tor you can't connect.

Source?

α-Linolenic acid, an n−3 fatty acid, is a member of the group of essential fatty acids (EFAs), so called because they cannot be produced within the body and must be acquired through diet. Most seeds and seed oils are much richer in an n−6 fatty acid, linoleic acid. Linoleic acid is also an EFA, but it, and the other n−6 fatty acids, compete with n−3s for positions in cell membranes and have very different effects on human health. (See Essential fatty acid interactions.)

A 2011 longitudinal study of over 50,000 women, conducted at Harvard University, over a period of ten years, found that a higher intake of α-Linolenic acid (combined with a lower intake of linoleic acid) was positively associated with a significant reduction in depression in the same group (the same study also found that by contrast an intake of EPA and DPA found in fish oils did not reduce depression)

Has the rapid expansion of our technology outpaced our ability to understand/control its social implications? by schroobin InsightfulQuestions

[–]LSDream 1 point2 points ago

Maybe, the human brain seems to grow largely as a function of its learning environment with genetics playing a dramatically smaller role when compared to other contemporary mammals. If anyone can break past the kill or be killed 4.6 billion year lesson we can. And we are, what do you think the 'sharing is caring' type lessons when kids are young and terribly impressionable are about

Has the rapid expansion of our technology outpaced our ability to understand/control its social implications? by schroobin InsightfulQuestions

[–]LSDream 0 points1 point ago

I really agree with the sentiment in this post but I would like to expand on it a bit.

When you say "reality" you're talking about the model of the universe that the brain builds which it then consciously experiences. What you see isn't light your eyes pick up projected on some screen in your brain it IS the processing of what your eyes pick up combined with a whole lot of other information (hence illusions like train stations going backwards) etc.

Unfortunately it is becoming more and more acceptable to remove your conscience from reality and enter a cyber tunnel, leaving those that are 2 ft away from you feel somewhat distant.

I could just as easily rephrase this as

Fortunatley it is becoming more and more acceptable to transport your mind vast distances and interact with people and ideas anywhere regardless of their spacial displacement.

Now you say "Well LSDream that's all very well and good but don't you feel that you have a right to interact with the people spatially closer to you and be treated with higher priority" and you know what I don't know but I will challenge you with this: Throughout history humanity has tended to embrace values that lead to more peaceful lives, better health, a broader sense of empathy and societies where violence is less and less acceptable. Why the hell would we stop now? (If you don't believe me http://www.ted.com/talks/steven_pinker_on_the_myth_of_violence.html)

There are plant alternatives, flax seeds (I think Americans call them linseeds) are most concentrate source, walnuts are very good as well and there is the protein thing.

[–]LSDream 1 point2 points ago

People think I am great at maths. I'm good at analysis because I am patient and take things apart (engineer for a dad) but in reality I'm only acceptable at maths. I can get 80-90's in exams by brute force learning but I never intuitively grasp things and can never get the extra credit questions. I suck at lateral thinking.

I can do the mechanical parts i.e. the computation but ask me to do anything that hasn't been done before and fucked if I know what to do.

My dog sometimes sits right up against me if I'm having a toke outside. He seems to like to breathe a little in and then walks a bit further away giving me the most ridiculous doggy grin.

At first I was massively concerned but it seems really small amounts aren't bad so I'll let him to his thing. I know a few people that blow smoke in their pets face and as far as I'm concerned that's drugging something against its will and a serious fucking crime

It's just a legal tickbox. I don't really understand why we still have to write whether we are male or female on legal documents, as if it makes a fucking difference. You can get all the ID information you need from fingerprints and photographs.

How on earth(specifically the UK) can I get my hands on some acid ? by JR1695in LSD

[–]LSDream 4 points5 points ago

Ok well silkroad is pretty self explanatory. There are forums that you can access via a link at the bottom right of the page after signing in. I can't remember the URL, there you will find all the info you could possibly need regarding good security habits.

TAILS is pretty easy to use, the OS is documented pretty well. A lot of people freak out because linux but just burn the iso to a disk, put it in boot and it will connect to the net (If wifi you will have to log in) and then boot up vidalia which is a bundle that handles tor. The UI is simple and not very frightening, there is an icon with the documentation on the desktop.

Getting btc is the part most people have trouble with. There is www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin as a place to peruse for information. www.mtgox.com is the largest exchange and will accept bank deposits less a fee. I don't live in europe so I don't know the easiest way to get BTC there however there is a wiki that has information about what bitcoin is and ways of acquisition.

If you are just making sporadic purchases keeping small amounts of money on MtGox will be fine (No need to set up your own wallet), change your SR address each time you deposit though.

How to find people with similar interests? by BSBMOin askdrugs

[–]LSDream 5 points6 points ago

I don't go out much and am in general fairly insular however I find it pretty easy to find people that share interests.

A lot is evident in stereotypes (e.g. Brightly coloured loose clothing) usually I just start talking to someone that looks interesting, once you start talking I usually drop things like "Yeah I'm really interested in psycho-pharmacology" or I talk about the life cycle of a mushroom etc. Things like this are glaringly obvious to other people into psychedelics but often just seem a little eccentric to people who aren't.

If someone is easy going you can always just go "So... Do you take drugs?" but make sure you know em a bit first.

Oh because TAILS is a distribution designed specifically for security and very strong anonymity. It wipes all traces of itself from your computer including a random write over of ram on shutdown.

If an OS dedicated to anonymity needs frequent security updates then I would strongly suggest you don't use it on your average jo's computer
