So I took your advise and made my own original fan art.... I hope you like it! (PBJ-Tavros/Gamzee) by KatiKat123in homestuck

The horns are that way due to the perspective. I also messed up a bit, but everyone makes mistakes at some point, right?

If they don't like my artwork, that's fine. They should at least say why they're downvoting me instead of just commenting on my spelling errors and literally downvoting every comment I added to this.

Thanks! My camera messed up Tavros's skin color-it's more grey in the original. Also, I prefer traditional art to digital art. Probably just because I've been drawing most of my life and also because I don't have a decent digital art program because of money issues.

On my last post, a bunch of davesprites, almost everybody said I should make my own fan art. Then, when I do, I get downvoted into oblivion. Oh well.

I love how people tell me to make my own fan art, and when I do, I get spammed with downvotes because it's a ship. Oh the irony.

Thoughts on the NATO summit protestors a few blocks from my house... by KatiKat123in politics

I know they have always been there, but it's different when something bad happens to someone you know personally, rather than just hearing it in the news. I know it's a little unfair to be more biased against it due to my location and father's profession, but some protesters are literally setting themselves up for arrest. They would actually get more media coverage of they were in a different place, due to the fact that the majority of news reporters are too afraid to go anywhere near the action. Also, the great span of unrelated topics make media coverage almost impossible. Ask two people near each other, ad they're protesting different issues. If a group were to get together and peacefully protest one specific issue at a different location, the gov't would be more willing to change for them. Right now a lot of the protesters are, and will remain, unheard by the majority of the population due to louder and more violent protesters a few blocks away. The gov't isn't going to take an angry, unorganized mob very seriously. The police will simply stop them for disturbing the peace. If we want the gov't to act maturely and listen to us, we have to act maturely as well.

From what I've been hearing outside and on the news, many are not just holding up signs. I'm aware that the majority mean well.

I'm not judging the entire demographic at all. Even if i was going to judge them, if they didn't want to be lumped up with the violent protesters, they shouldn't have chosen here and now to protest. But the fact is that I'm NOT judging them all based on a few. These protesters have real issues and are real individual people and I respect that. What I don't respect is my friend's parents' business windows being shattered by members of the black block during protest. My father is an officer in the Chicago police department and doesn't want to be out there right now. He has no choice. He has been called horrible things in the past few days simply for doing his job. He's ashamed to be associated with some of the other police officers acting irrationally, but if he didn't do it he'd be fired. I'm scared for his life because of what has been broadcasted on the news thus far this weekend.

As for your other point, I honestly don't care if I'm grouped with the idiots around the country in my age group. All I ask is for a chance to prove that I'm not like them. Many of the protesters have proven themselves to be good people and not violent, and I have great respect for them and their courage. However, the majority of the rest of Chicago, as well as the gov't as a whole, currently ARE judging them all based on a few violent individuals. My opinions won't change that. I only hide inside my home, hoping that no one is killed or seriously injured this weekend, including the violent protesters. I just want everyone to stay safe.

I had nothing better to do than post my thoughts here on reddit simply to clear my mind. Thanks for your insightful input and for even bothering to talk to a teenage angsty girl over the Internet about political issues. It makes me feel better knowing that someone out there is listening to my ramblings.

I drew them from cascade which is why I credited it. True, I shouldn't have called it fan art, per se, but I didn't trace them. Thanks for letting me know my mistake! :)

What new type would you add to the current 17? by sentimentalpiratein pokemon

[–]KatiKat123 0 points1 point ago

And ghost type I think... Especially when combined with dark type. Actually, I believe electric needs a few more weaknesses because of how many Pokémon are flying type or at least partially flying type. At the very least, electric should be not very effective against most of the things that it's not strong against. Otherwise it's too unbalanced.

Making videos on YouTube or petitioning would actually be a much more effective form of protesting because of the media-centric society we live in. The government is less likely to abide to requests of people who are protesting violently at an unrelated event, than to people being more civil and finding a nonviolent way to get their ideas across. Take the invisible children for an example. They never did violent protesting (as far as I know) but the Kony 2012 video was a big hit and got national attention. People shouting while holding signs are just seen by the police as disturbances of the peace. Actually, protesting at a different time would actually be better. People are so afraid to leave their houses that the protesters are getting LESS media attention than they would if it was at another time. I'm aware that they are protesting real issues and they should be listened to, but protesting violently kind of defeats the point of some of their issues, such as the police.

What has changed so drastically in America from the Space Race and space exploration being a huge deal to our country, to the decommissioning of the space shuttles? by Throwaway_Ain politics

[–]KatiKat123 3 points4 points ago

The space race was initially a technological leap frog with the soviet union during the cold war. The cold war is over, so we didn't have a competitor until china decided to send up a shuttle.

I am not throwing their issues aside. I actually agree with a lot of what they're saying (not including my 2 examples above). I just don't believe that they should be protesting NATO in order to be heard. I'm currently trapped inside my house for fear of being hurt or worse in the protests. My classes were all canceled for this weekend. Protesters should find a much less violent way to get their ideas across to te gov't. They shouldn't endanger their fellow citizens in asking for a better gov't system.

That's not my point. Sure, people have died as a result of some of NATO's actions, but without NATO, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and many other European nations would be under the control of Russia. Now, NATO is aiming to end the threat of terrorism in its member countries.

However, my point was that of the people I've seen protest the NATO summit, a few don't know what NATO really is and many are protesting things that are not even under NATO's control. If I heard people protesting that tragedy in the link you posted, I would not be so disappointed in them.

And the funniest thing about that is the fact that the cold war was going on at the time. Truman supported providing education for veterans while fighting the Korean war, which was forcing communism out of South Korea.

Also, how is providing education any more communistic than giving jobs to veterans regardless of qualification? I'm so disappointed in this generation.

After WW2, the Truman administration provided college education for all returning vets. That generation was (and still is) considered one of the best and most productive generations in American society. Some of the greatest technological advances were made by them. I believe that providing education would be better than guaranteeing a job. As a bonus, the added students would give teachers a better chance of keeping their jobs, if they were facing unemployment due to college funding cuts.
