Began pulling my hair one strand at a time, and I did it so meticulously it looked like it was shaved. I would get the long strand of hair and form a long chain of knots compulsively, then pluck another when I ran out. I had large bald patches hidden under my hair (I guess I tried to hide it). My parents started noticing due to all the hair on the floor on the side of my bed every morning. Up until now I can't figure out why I did it... I just had to at the time, and it was really hard to stop. I was under the impression that "boondocks" originated from Filipino where "bundok" means mountain. The etymology as far as I understand is that when the Americans took over they adopted the word to reference anything remote especially because there are several settlements in the mountainous regions of the Philippines. Filipino is rooted in Malay but is not exactly the same.
