Introductory course to computer science? by wesmoyin UCI

[–]K1eptomaniaK 2 points3 points ago

The intro classes to Comp Sci are ICS 21, 22, and 23.

There is also a Game Development major, or something of the like, that you can look into.

  1. They turn autoreload on, thus allowing you to keep your mind on things other than "shit I forgot to reload." Plus, you can interrupt the reload animation any time you want.

  2. Personal preference

Aggression on mid is probably the most important thing, especially if they opt to come from arch instead of the sawmill.

Also, kritz is absolutely murderous on this map. ;D

I think the point is to whip the medic to clear the ramp as soon as possible. Obviously not when the enemy combo is on top of you.

You'll be fine as long as you don't advertise the fact that you are transgender...

Seems to me that most people are too busy with their own problems, or just don't care

Demoman tips/tricks? by onelazykidin tf2

[–]K1eptomaniaK 0 points1 point ago

This is true, but I do know someone who contends the SR is more powerful overall.

I disagree with that opinion, but I still think the SR is very powerful against certain strategies, or if you have very strong soldiers/scouts.

The mind game is the key point if you plan on using the Scottish.

You're not going anywhere near an area with 6 stickies.

This is not my account. What are the best things you've stumbled across that people have forgotten to log off of? by MyParentsArentHomein AskReddit

[–]K1eptomaniaK 0 points1 point ago

Was visiting New York City during the week between Winter and Spring quarters, and my group visited the Apple store at Grand Station.

Several people had forgotten to log out of the iPads/Touches being demo'd there, and I left, on every single one, a message similar to "I probably should log out of public machines."

Felt good :P

It seems the only fully-realized fictional universes used in games are Lord of the Rings-type fantasy, or futuristic space operas. What are some radically original alternative universes you can think of? by josefjohannin truegaming

[–]K1eptomaniaK 2 points3 points ago

You can define Diablo as a slash-and-hack, but I don't think you can say Diablo is a MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena?...) unless you go PvP online.

I'd say play single-player through the game first to get a feel for the story at your own pace. I'm currently on Act 3, and it's a blast.

reddit D3 lan, vent, w/e...? by xeightxin UCI

[–]K1eptomaniaK 1 point2 points ago

I still have yet to beat D2 and Portal 2, so I probably won't be playing D3 for a bit :d

You might want to poke around the ICS groups/clubs. I remember there being SC2 LAN's last year.

I'm 100% certain at least 1 person in the RPG club has it. xP

I feel like I play pyro very unconventionally... by Dreamfunk_M2in truetf2

[–]K1eptomaniaK 3 points4 points ago

It's not necessarily a bad thing. Most people consider the pyro's secondary to be it's "main" weapon due to the short range of the flamethrowers.

That being said, when a team runs a pyro, it's usually not to substitute a scout. The airblast is extremely good at protecting your medic from random spam, and in a situation where you're basically tied to your medic, a flare gun would be much better due to no damage drop off.

Pyro's prefer flares because of the flareshot combo. Most of the time, it'll do more damage than the shotgun unless you can get meatshots all the time.

I'm a designer looking for some inspiration. What are the best game *menu* designs you've seen? by clarlein truegaming

[–]K1eptomaniaK 3 points4 points ago

One function I really like in menus, especially if it's extremely nested, is the ability to pop ALL the way out with one button (IE Esc to get out of Options -> Video -> Screen ...etc... on a PC). But if you get nested that far, something's wrong already.

Boost - A TF2 Rocket Jump Movie by jermszin tf2

[–]K1eptomaniaK 5 points6 points ago

You need enough horizontal velocity, usually a skipjump/speedshot will get you the speed you need. At a certain point, instead of bumping to a stop, you'll just glide along the surface as long as you hold crouch.

On that note, you can "slide" on water by holding jump. Took me way too long to figure that one out.

Edits: It also depends on the slope. The lower the slope, the higher the velocity needed. Not too sure about near vertical slopes though, since most hills/stairs are ~45 degrees.
