I think one of the most approachable IPA's is Founders Centennial IPA. Great all around beer.

What's the future of 3D printing? by SeanusIdiusin Reprap

[–]Jurmandesign 1 point2 points ago

I predict it will be more of a desktop unit close to the same size as a printer you would see in someones house now. Something where you could print out kitchen utensils and dishes, or a new bracket to hold your garmin, or action figures for kids. I don't think the build envelope for personal use would be much bigger than 101010. Think about 2D printing. There are capabilities out there to print banners you can hang across the street but most people stick to 8.5*11. I think this would be the same with 3D.

What's the future of 3D printing? by SeanusIdiusin Reprap

[–]Jurmandesign 2 points3 points ago

The biggest place you will see rapid prototyping is in the professional design/R&D fields. Most major companies out there have an RP lab with multiple printers. Right now there is a major wow factor with 3D printing. At my last job when I worked in an RP lab I spent a huge chunk of my time giving tours and letting people ogle the machines and explain processes to them. Once the wow factor dies down and more people are familiar with the concept I think you will see 3D printers in peoples homes, but just like all new technology it will take a while. In 10-12 years I think it is completely foreseeable that at least half of households have a personal 3D printer or at least have access to one.

Changed the headlights on my car. What do y'all think? by Kommiekozin cars

[–]Jurmandesign 0 points1 point ago

I do kind of like the way the line of the hood or housing of the headlight breaks the ring of the inner "angel eye". It gives the front of the car a pretty menacing look. Sometimes its hard for me to accept design elements that were developed for certain cars on other cars but this is actually nicely done and seems to achieve the same desired effect.

And thanks for the kind words about my Corrado. She has a blown head gasket right now that I am trying to get taken care of from like 8 states away. The car is in GA and I am in NH.... Hopefully I'll get her up here for some summer driving!

Nice. I have seen older machines that did that with paper and glue. This looks like a much more refined process. That is interesting, and the first time I have seen this machine. Depending on the detail of your models it looks like the post processing could be tedious. Cool nonetheless, thanks for sharing!

It looks like they are filled with support material. What process was used to print these?

If you wanted a BMW you should have bought a BMW.

Frugal, has anyone used PODS before? how did it compare to renting a truck/hiring movers? IL to CO move by toru85in Frugal

I didn't see your post before posting about ABF U-Pack, but I agree they are the way to go. They were great for my GA=NH move!

As someone who just moved from GA to NH I would suggest using ABF U-pack. Basically you reserve as much space as you thing you will need on a 23 foot truck. Then you pack it with all your stuff (or get someone else to) and then they come measure it before they pick it up and if you use more space than you thought they charge you $100 per foot and if you cram all your stuff in less space they give you back $100 per foot. (Tip: I think the separators only attach to the truck in 3' increments, unless my truck was unique, so aim for 6' 9' 12' or whatever 3' increment you think you will use) I reserved 9' of space and only used 6', Saved me $300 on my move! The rest of the space on the trailer is used for commercial shipping so no other family will have access to the trailer that your stuff is in, plus you can lock the divider so people can't get in there anyway.

With the US congress at a 14% approval rating, why do we still let them make decisions on our behalf? by brendanecin politics

[–]Jurmandesign 0 points1 point ago

I think this comes down to only having two options, and most of the time it's voting either for a giant douche or a turd sandwich, to paraphrase South Park. I think basically people vote for whoever they would rather hear the inevitable bad news come from.
