Fatty acids (fat) are broken into acetyl-CoA through beta oxidation. After which the acetyl-CoA can enter into the citric acid cycle. From the citric acid cycle amino acids can be generated through a series of transamination involving alpha-ketoglutarate, glutamate, glutamine, and the other Keto-acids. These amino acids can be made into proteins (muscle). And thus fat becomes muscle. Biochemistry FTW.

Usually it is volunteer position actually. Aside from the 'anesthesiologist' the guards involved are paid the same as regular guards. No one has to do it as part of their regular guard job.

Actually the concept of a hypo/hypertonic solution would be considered fairly common knowledge to people familiar with biology/chemistry. Read about osmotic pressure and you will see how it works.

I was assuming this gentleman had reached the limit. I know waterproofing is an important aspect of skin, but this can and does happen. Especially with distilled water.
