Well now I'm scared, my stats are about the same, now that I blew over 1mil on AH to resist all -gear. I've got no problems in infA1, and am just about to clear it when I've got the time, but ... just how hard is infA2? Oh man, I don't know if I want to go there.

I'm sorry that you feel this way, here's my take on it:
The game met my expectations fully and didn't disappoint with the new features where I feared it could. I've been a huge fan ever since I finally got Windows 95 on my computer so I could play the Diablo 1 Demo without biking miles to a friend's house.
Improving upon Diablo II: Lord of Destruction would have been awesome for sure, but the way Blizzard re-invented Diablo with Diablo III, I can't stop loving it. I absolutely love the new skillsystem, the new elite mechanics, the new inferno difficulty and the new class characters with personalities and the new gear types.

Well, that is not how it is supposed to work, when you downvote, the effect is always the signal telling people that there's something "wrong" with this post in your opinion. There is no need to downvote people who have gotten help, because if you upvote them instead, the thread stays up and other people don't need to ask the same questions, because they see the thread. When it comes to helping, downvotes aren't helping, it is rather counterproductive.
But yes, this is a bit trickier in New, I guess you're doing the right thing, just that I feel you should still choose the best thread of a kind, so that the voting "jobs" on a certain type of thread in New will stop, or diminish in quantity after a while.

Spoken true, though if the 520M is in a i5 8gb ram notebook, it could still do medium I suppose, but yeah, it would be a terrible bottleneck. But finding a notebook with 670M for around 800€? Dang, sometimes I really have to cringe when living in Finland, the taxes bring those laptops to ~1100€ :\
Whoa, you found models with those components priced around 800€? Very nice bargains I'd say :)

Hehe nice, I went with Cain's "Stay a while and listen" for the message notifications, and Diablo I Tristram music for ringtone, oh and also Diablo II Lord of Destruction intro (menu music) for the alarm :)

Haha silly me! Thanks for reminding me, I need to mark it down with a triggered event, perhaps a command to launch the D3 trailer with the memorable quote caption "NOT EVEN DEATH CAN SAVE YOU FROM ME." ;)

Yes that's what I essentially said, once you've made sure the links are authentic, it means they're the same. I'm not saying anyone should click anything before they're absolutely sure they're legit, checking from b.net is always a good thing to do first :)
[–]Jaawa 2 points3 points4 points 11 days ago
Sure thing, your card is ranked 59th on notebookcheck's benchmark list of notebook video cards, which means it's still in the higher class of laptop graphics. I mean the cards ranked ~200th are still on sale on "new" laptops, and those perform with scores which are 50% (some even less) that of your card's graphics power.
You'll be playing new games on that laptop for years to come ;)
[–]Jaawa 9 points10 points11 points 11 days ago
Oh and people are downvoting you, because these kind of posts should be directed to r/buildapc and the tom's hardware d3 benchmark article. I don't mind these kind of posts, I mean you're a fellow diablohead who needs help :)
But anyway, I tried helping a bit, I'm not sure if you'll find relevant info on laptop performance from those links, but good luck.
Oh yeah that's a beast of a laptop, but the thing is, Nvidia's model names are so confusing when comparing video cards from different generations. Your 460M (albeit it is GTX, not GT) which is of the fermi architecture, beats other fermi cards like the GT 555M and GT 635M, and those are fermi too! It also beats the GT 640M which is of the newer kepler architecture. Gets very confusing, the GTX 460M should be currently named GT 660M or something, to make it clear how good it is :P
Anyhow, a laptop with i7 is already enough to tell that 800€ won't reach it, not quite yet :)
I play Skyrim, Starcraft 2 and Mass Effect 3 on my Zepto Znote 6625WD, which is an old laptop, rocking a Nvidia GT 8600M from ages past (it was the mobile king of its day), but still ran "nicely" a bit under 30fps on low settings and lower 1024 resolution, but I'd say playable if you really have to settle for this level of performance, and playability is key if the budget is strict, leave the eyecandy for better days :P
Notebookcheck's benchmark list says my GT 8600M is ranked 246th, only just beating the intel HD3000. I'd say the HD3000 is a no-go, you wouldn't like my laptop's variable performance, I'd say don't settle for less than Nvidia's fermi 5xxM cards, possibly go for kepler 6xxM like Nioxic said, if you find a great deal - I'm not sure they sell for 800€ though.
Good advice, but all laptops with the newer kepler architecture GPU video cards cost more than 800€ I'm afraid, well, unless you find a whopping deal :)
I've seen laptops with the 520 and the 3000 priced similarly, so I'd recommend the 520MX over the HD3000, as you can see from this benchmark list from notebookcheck.com, the 520MX is placed 189th while the HD3000 is in place 248th. There's a good 30% more 'oomph' in the 520MX, not enough to put it in the medium class in the Supported Video Cards list, but it's going to be a noticeable difference when playing, perhaps you can even raise the graphics settings a bit with the 520MX if you manage to find a good deal on a laptop with it.
EDIT. The newer kepler architecture GPU video cards are of course is better, but I don't think you can find a laptop at 800€ with those cards yet.
No need to be paranoid, the links in the email are the exact same ones as in those blog posts. Caution is good, but once you've got the proof, click all the links :)

It is a valid domain. Edgesuite is the company Blizzard uses to manage their downloads, and the links in the email are the exact same links as in the official Blizzard blog post, so yeah, caution is best but the proof of legitimacy is right there.
Oh, sorry. I didn't know, I've never owned an iPhone :\

Really? Well I'm mighty sleep deprived, so I downloaded the downloader from that link on that email, and updated my Diablo 3 installer, everything went as expected ..and now you're telling me it's a scam? Oh man. Well, nothing weird happened at any time, I'll run scans with Avast! and Anti-Malware now.
EDIT. The scans found nothing. I'm starting to think it isn't a scam, I hope this thing clears out soon, I fear for my D3 installer.
EDIT2. Okay so it wasn't a scam, phew. Well, gotta think positively, at least I did my monthly scans in advance :D

Thanks. I tried looking for iPhone D3 themes for you, but it seems there aren't really any. Though this one looks very nice, just that it isn't ready yet I guess, here's the bnet thread.
EDIT. should be coming out soon, as the guy said:
"I'm creating more Icons, but for now is covered the basics... before release the theme I.m gonna do some other things... please be patience... I'm gonna release it before may 15th ;)"

Well, you still do experience it, and I must say, marathoning a few games myself in this way (SC2, Portal, Doom 3), I wouldn't say I missed anything. Thing is, while Diablo does have a sweet plot from what I've seen, it is not a huge story/roleplay/dialogue -driven RPG like Mass Effect for example, and so, it doesn't require as much focus to get immersed, because there isn't too much to be immersed in. Now I'm not saying that playing at a savoring pace in privacy isn't a nicer experience, but I'm saying that for people who have adapted to pulling off public marathons, the difference is insignificant - I'd compare it to watching a movie in a packed theatre versus watching it home alone. Plus, this guy has plenty of half-hour moments of rest and a real plan for food and keeping himself fresh, I'm pretty certain he can and will enjoy the game as much as I will at my release party :)

Are you using the stock cooler? I switched to Zalman VF3000N after a year with ASUS' stock cooler, and boy was it a good investment. Running newer games like Mass Effect 3 and Crysis 2 on relatively high settings, it still manages to keep its core temperature under 60°C, I'm sure this card will still last me a long time :)
[–]Jaawa 1 point2 points3 points 18 days ago
I've done 96 hours twice in my life, marathons at Assembly Demoscene party, I think the years were 2002 and 2004. It is tough, but very doable if you've got the ability to just focus on staying alert and keep a constant pace with food and fluids intake. I don't think something like 109+ hours is a problem at all for a healthy person with a real nutritional plan and who doesn't just spam fast food and energy drinks like I did.
Sure it isn't wise, I wouldn't recommend it, but it is certainly fun and this guy is doing it for a good cause it seems, I wish him good luck :)
[Finland] How would you feel about having American neighbors? by redtimeboldin AskACountry
[–]Jaawa 1 point2 points3 points 2 months ago
American neighbours would be awesome, first I would challenge you to a icehole swimming contest, then a sauna endurance contest and lastly a drinking contest. Then we could live happily ever after, without useless gossip or greeting other than mild grunting when we meet each morning when fetching the newspaper.
Anyway, if you have any more specific questions, I'd be happy to try and answer. Because i_like_juice covered the whole neighbour thing pretty well already.
