For a few months I worked as a sushi chef in a grocery store in Texas. I was walking through the store, about to clock in, when a little hispanic girl (about 7 years old I'd say) points at me and yells: "YOU LOOK LIKE CHING CHONG BING BONG LEE!". I've played on a lot of paiste and meinl hi-hats and nothing has sounded as crisp and clean as my A-customs. I mostly play them open (metalhead) but when I play jazz, they sound way better than my drum teachers paiste's that he uses exclusively for jazz.

My love for the Death Metal theme lead me to fall in love with The Black Dahlia Murder, which lead me to fall in love with drums all over again.

Listening to Shannon Lucas has inspired me moreso than anything else in the world, and their lyrics are amazingly descriptive and intriguing.

My Catalina has a hell of a time staying in tune also.

They were fine when I was playing with a country group but as soon as I got back to playing metal, they stopped being good and started being trash can sounds. >_<"

Tama Starclassic Hyperdrive or Catalina Maple are my favorite ~1k sets. I own the catalina, but I'm thinking about switching over to a Hyperdrive just cos I like the tom sizes on those way more. And the tom mounts that tama has are wayyyy better.

I have the 7 piece, 8-10-12-14-16 and 14 snare.

I sort of regret not getting a tama hyperdrive just because of the tom mounts that come with it. They're awesome.

I know some drummers use super high spring tension and some that use completely loose spring tension and they both play extremely fast and well.

That's completely up to you personally.

I try to just play a beat with 8th notes and then I'll throw in eight 16th's and go back to 8ths or four 16th's.
