The best use of stock images by Relliktenin videos

[–]HereBeDragons -1 points0 points ago

The prices are so high because of what went into creating them, and the fact that they exist at all. This image wouldn't exist as it is without those people. And it may be just what you're looking for.

Like Damadawf said, it's easier for a company or individual to grab a stock photo than it is to arrange a new shoot. Cost depends on a number of factors: if the shot is rights managed or royalty free, the size of the photo, where/who you're buying it from, where it's going to be used, how it's going to be used, etc.

It's one of the ways you make a living in a creative profession and it's typical of earning a living in the commercial profession.

Do you happen to know anything about the texture packs, like where to get them?

I know there's a texture pack for Thief Gold, but I have not been able to find a working link anywhere as of yet. Does anyone have any info on this or know where I can get it?

My favorite game is Ocarina of Time. The game is a great marriage between masterful storytelling and (then) state-of-the-art game design. The music is memorable. It sets the tone and perfectly underscores your adventure.

It's a timeless story that deals with innocence and experience, coming of age, love and loss, surprise and danger, magic and discovering the unknown.

Beyond the the technical, it's my favorite because of what it means to me personally. It represents happier times, when I would play with my best friend from down the road.

Cheers.

That's an incredibly ignorant statement. Actors are storytellers, not manipulative liars catering to special interests for the sake of self-preservation.

My girlfriend is sick, and there's a shitstorm brewing. [very, very long] by dudewheresmythrowin relationship_advice

[–]HereBeDragons 1 point2 points ago*

It's not an easy situation because it's moved beyond just the two of you having a conversation, and you care about her. But you need to remove your emotions from the equation somewhat if you plan to be realistic. Expending energy arguing is futile when it's clear they're not going to communicate with you. You'll only wear yourself down further, and you don't want this affect your work too much.

I wouldn't be too hard on yourself about having your family involved at this point. You seem to have a good grasp of the situation, so I don't think you'll make the same mistakes she has. An extraordinary situation is being forced upon you, and family can help. Besides, they seem like reasonable folks. Their advice has been practical so far. Their guidance will be invaluable because of life experience, but ultimately it's your decision. So, take their counsel into consideration but keep using your head. Make the choices for yourself. Although you'll have to heed/compromise with their wishes where money is concerned, because they're supporting you. Tread carefully there, but still let your desires be known. If they're helping you follow your dreams in another city, I'm sure they will listen to and respect your wishes.

I won't ask you too many personal questions. But if it's your credit card she was using, is it safe to assume the lease is in your name, or is it shared? Depending, you may or may not have the final say in apartment matters. And it gets messier if your parents are serving as guarantors. But tread carefully here too. You don't want to be stuck footing all of the bill. First and foremost, you want to have as much of a peaceful resolution as possible. Lording power and threats will end you. You have no hope if you take one step in that direction. Instead, take the path of least resistance and see if you can't compromise with her family in this regard. You have a valid case. Propose the room switching idea and creating a respectful boundary, anything that promotes keeping the rent paid on time. This is a very stressful time for both of you.

Regarding parents and the apartment, it may come down to having the parents talk with each other to figure out a solution. They're this involved already. If both family's money is involved, and it's clear you and your gf can't reconcile, then it might come to that. Try to avoid this at all cost, but realize it might be a solution. Since your parents seem reasonable, it's worth bringing the idea up with them and see what they have to say. Voice your concerns.

Edit: Regarding the letter you sent, hopefully the tone was mostly respectful and not emotionally charged. I don't think you ignited anything by sending it. You took a path that allowed you to think through your response and voice your concerns. It's really the best method of dialogue at this point. It's thoughtful communication at a respectful distance. It also serves as documentation.

I think the best you can hope for at this point is to have a place to live and to see your production through. When you step into that theater, that's your purpose. You're young and you're building a career. Focus. Remember your dream and keep your eyes on the prize.

I know you're upset and conflicted but you need to do your best to get a grip. Normally you should be sympathetic, but it sounds like the usual signals are being used to manipulate you. Don't let them manipulate your emotions into self-doubt. It's a cruel tactic and really messes with your head. The emotions cloud your judgment and you make poor choices. Keep your head and be realistic. You have rights too. You know that, so stick by them.

It sounds like she's playing the child and retreated under the umbrella protection of the family - and the family has its own agenda. Anything she says is really coming from her folks. When life gets tough, it happens. People regress. Unfortunately, some people's parents are enablers. I think the odds of you being able to talk to just her are small to none. It would help if you could stress that this is between you and her - not her family - whenever possible, but I'm not sure how much that will work.

Couple arguments always gets ridiculously messy/blown way out of proportion when families get involved (e.g. parents). Parents have only a vague, one-sided idea of the situation, and waste no time springing into protective mode. Granted, they were right there, but it was really bad judgment on her part to put you on trial in front of her family right then, in the hospital. It's literally the worst possible time. Daughter's relationship on the rocks while ill in the hospital. It's the stuff of a Lifetime TV movie.

For now, Stay in the apartment

You've paid rent, it's yours legally. Relocate to another room in the apartment for the time being, but don't leave. If you want to find another place, you have two months. And you need stability as much as she does. You need time to figure out your next move, and you have a job to do.

Keep everything as simple as possible.

Are you on a lease? How long is your theater engagement?

It is a fantastic price. Steam always puts me in this position: I can't afford to save this much!

I saw that comment too. Well, I don't know much more than I've already said. From my experience, Steam is usually able to reverse everything done in their system (revoking games from others who received them by fraudulent means, crediting fraudulent transactions, etc). At the very least, Steam really strives to provide great customer service, so I'm sure everything will be alright.

The waiting between emails and the final resolution is always the hardest part. I wish you the best of luck.

[–]HereBeDragons 1 point2 points ago

Well, I can't say for sure, but a person might be able to buy games using your info and gift them, for instance. However, I think even in this case, Steam would be able to easily track the transaction and reverse it totally. Though I think you can still see the billing address during checkout. That might be the only thing exposed. But there's the Catch 22: you can't remove it if you don't have access to your account, and if you have access you don't have to remove it.

Also, here's some advice: make sure to keep a hold of your Steam ID64. A hacker can change your /id/Foxh3ad ID, but can't change the ID64. I pulled your ID64 for you http://www.steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198015973601

FYI, I can't view your ticket. Only you can.

Just follow the directions on this page and you'll be ok. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2347-qdfn-4366

[–]HereBeDragons 1 point2 points ago*

He's wrong about it taking two weeks.

My Steam account got hacked, so I opened a Steam support ticket. Steam support got back to me within 1 or 2 days.

In that first email to me, they asked me to respond and take a picture of the serial key on the box with a code, that they gave me in that first email, hand written in pencil next to the serial key (I don't know what they'd ask for in the event you don't have a physical copy of the game). The game was obviously associated with my compromised Steam account.

It's worth it to note that they froze the account from the moment they opened my ticket. Access was restored to me with a new password, once they verified me as the owner. When I got back in, I enabled Steam Guard (use it). Later that night, in the wee hours of the morning, my inbox had about 6 emails for a lost password request code. The loser tried to get back in.

Ultimately, no harm was done. You can't lose games, but you could have a problem if you have payment info associated with the account or $$ in your Steam wallet. But they do freeze the account as soon as they become aware of a situation. The only downsides: my friend's list was replaced with his friends, I apparently had way more hours into CS:S than before, and I had some retarded dub step avatar. He was also Russian.

The whole process didn't take more than 4 days, IIRC.

Don't worry. Steam support will recover the account for you.

You shouldn't have to do that at all, but I guess that depends on what you're looking for. However, you did pull the right move if you're playing mind games.

I know you're trying to be reasonable with your approach, which is very admirable, but definitely don't settle for something you're not comfortable with. It's a one-way ticket on the resentment ride, with a possible layover in passive aggressive behavior.
