TROPHY CASE

Security company, are you serious? by Rubberdollin iiiiiiitttttttttttt

installed applications list

Hackers want this.

Assuming Symantec (AFAIK) is still embedding Secunia's scan engine, the results, if intercepted, include version numbers.

knowing what programs you are running + version numbers allows me to determine which vulnerabilities you may be subject to.

Which, you know, allows me to own you quite easily.

Cop killer caught by his victim's partners. by iDontSeedMyTorrentsin JusticePorn

[–]Glorious_Leader 0 points1 point ago

Yes, IMHO it does.

I am all for the death penalty for murder, so keep that in mind.

However, it is every persons right to have his guilt proven before any sort of punishment is dished out. Once we allow self-metered justice, we allow for the possibility of an innocent man being punished.

For the same reason, I would rather let many many guilty men go free than convinct one innocent.

There is never Islamic justification for killing someone without trial, even if the death penalty had been warrented.

In this case? It isn't. Fornication outside of marriage is NOT punishable by death.

... Except you do realize that this has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with culture... right?

If the US was able to put men on the moon in the '60s with less computing power than a modern cell phone, why is it that modern countries such as China or even North Korea can't pull it off? by PoeticGopherin askscience

Thanks.

2) Yes, I know. Politics, however, is not about truth, but rather about the perception of truth.

3) My intention was simply to highlight that good leaders prepare for bad outcomes, especially if the bad outcome is "caused" (directly or indirectly) by their choices.

Unless there is due procedure, it is not justice, no matter how guilty the person is.

[–]Glorious_Leader -15 points-14 points ago

Yea, definitively.

I am not being sarcastic when I say that we definitively want a president who considers what to tell the public after his choices have killed 10+ people.

Really, I'm not being sarcastic at all.

(We, of course, being relative since I am not from the US nor do I live there (And frankly would rather see the US, well... gone)).

Seriously, these are politicians.

It is quite unlikely that any politician worth his bribe wouldn't have prepared a failture speech before an event such as this.

/etc/car?

I'd think /dev/car and /dev/bus made more sense.

Especially since /dev/bus exists on my debian box and /etc/car does not

FGLRX no longer works with 3.2.11-3.2.11 by Glorious_Leaderin linux

[–]Glorious_Leader[S] 0 points1 point ago

Interestingly enough, it still segfaults when I try to boot it.

But I'm thinking it may just make sense to find an older version of the amd installer and move back to the old kernel.

I've could have done that (If I had thought of it), but it would have been neat to actually fix this.

But I guess this is probably a bug either in the new kernel, the new xorg, or the new driver.

So not much chance.

Well, thanks anyway.

[–]Glorious_Leader[S] 0 points1 point ago

Yup, I've tried it. I have no fglrx packages installed ATM, and the fglrx installer still gives the dkms error (And then segfaults when rebooting, forcing me to uninstall fglrx before I can successfully run startx).

Nope, I am not. This may very well be true.

ultimate zombie weapon, solved: by Yalaboodin zombies

[–]Glorious_Leader 2 points3 points ago

Seeing as this is starwars, I'm sure that's there somewhere, and YET there will be many, many stories in many places about the opposite taking place.

With no explaination.

There are just too many books and whathaveyou to keep track of it all.

[–]Glorious_Leader 4 points5 points ago

I have no idea where I got this (I used to be a major star wars nerd), but there may be something about these blades burning up the air, thus unnaturally pushing the blade forward (So that you'd need to be able to see the future to not, you know, cut your own face in half).

Need help resizing and image and placing a search form on top of it. by Glorious_Leaderin webdesign

[–]Glorious_Leader[S] 0 points1 point ago

No, actually that's what I don't want. :)

The problem with this site is that some parts of the background image is "hidden" when the page is resized.

It is critical here to preserve all of the image at any size - PREFERABLY without JS.

Is there a way?

Need help resizing and image and placing a search form on top of it. by Glorious_Leaderin webdesign

[–]Glorious_Leader[S] 0 points1 point ago

I tried something of this nature, however I could not get the background image to stretch to the size of the div (Where it was the background).

If I just set it, it went into a repeated mode (Which does not fulfill the spec - the entire image is important).

If I use background-size (which is apparently unsupported in many browsers) and hide the overflow, some of the image is lost.

I just need the image to have 100% with, height of around 15%, while still being able to fix a search field in the image's right lower corner.

Interface design is so important, and free software has traditionally neglected it.

Did you see the comic about an engineer-run company? Something about being too stupid to use the interface...

Interfaces shouldn't make you think. Things should be found where you expect them to be found. This can make or break a program.
