Just ban them at 70. After all, when they are taking their yearly test who really knows if it's one of their "good" days or one of their "bad" days

This is why they are allowed to call us "stick insects" in a sneering way, yet we must be careful that we never refer to their wobbling great gargantuan lard arses.

I just realized you can comment and post on Reddit! What should my account be like, and what should my first submission be?(aside from this.)

Think of something (an action or a thought, either is fine) that is quite unremarkable and commonplace.

For instance ... checking you have turned the television off before going to bed.

Post it in /r/DoesAnybodyElse/

DAE check to make sure they have turned the television off before going to bed ?

Hey presto.

Details please of the education that qualified you to make an assumption such as this. Do you run a Strip Club ?

Also she is a stripper and most of us know what their attitude and personality can be like.

Regrettably, unlike most of "you" (ie just "you"), I don't know what someones attitude and personality can be like just from hearing their job title. Please enlighten me.

Also, may I ask your job title? I would love a chance to match your skill in making knee-jerk, half-arsed assumptions about people.

I can remember standing outside the "Youth Club" where I had my first cigarette. I felt so ill that I had to crouch down low, near to the floor, so I didn't faint.

In the bizarre, arse about tit, way of that generation my strict disciplinarian mother (who made me come home at night about two hours before my friends had to be home) had no problem with me smoking around the house at 15 years old.

What's the matter with you ? Have you never heard of "Spares or Repair". If I find a laptop is irreparable, I will sell it on eBay and probably get £50-£70 for it. Think of the screen, ram etc. I am always scrupulously honest about which parts are still functioning. You know, it SAVES THEM LOADS OF MONEY as it's miles cheaper than buying replacement parts new, and it saves things going to waste.

Are there any Redditors out there on Rat Poisin (Warfarin) ?

GiggityGeek [S] 0 points1 point 15 days ago[-]

It's not just the Warfarin. It's the endless visits and blood tests for my INR and the injections and the remembering to take it at exactly the right time. The whole thing just really, it sucks.

Thanks for your answer. I think it's a bit late to stop me getting a second one. I may have been in denial about that, maybe my post was my way of facing the second one. It's on my other leg, in the same place. I did take 10mg of warfarin tonight (I know, but I will go to the hospital tomorrow - I just can't face the thought of all that again). I do feel though that all the weeks I spent walking around with the first one undiagnosed are just as contributory and the fact it hasn't been that long since I stopped my Warfarn. To be honest I can't face all that crap in the long term.

But thanks for taking the time and I will deal with this tomorrow,

A shit night all in all. Two of my friends turned up drunk and woke the whole neighbourhood. They had to get drunk so they could face telling me that a friend with cancer has a month, maybe two to live. She is only 36. They said she was going to be ok. Well, she said they said that.

Sorry you didn't ask to hear that.

Hi, I'm happy to answer any questions and grateful for your input.

My symptoms began with a kind of red patch on my lower left leg which I ignored. I hadn't been to the doctors in six years until all this. It wasn't really painful. My daughter, who is a Radiographer nagged me to visit the Doctors. They prescribed antibiotics which I didn't take as I could tell it wasn't an infection.

However I suddenly developed (for the first time in my life) severe eczema and I was scratching my body till it bled. I went back to the Docs. She diagnosed cellulitis and prescribed 2 lots of antiobiotics and some sort of cream. Nothing changed. I went back a week later, same thing, more antibiotics but stronger this time and more cream. However by this point I was a mess. My leg had suddenly swollen (the upside down bowling skittle look). So even more antibiotics. The eczema had started to go. My leg was double its normal skinny size and I was in excrutiating pain. I had to roll my jeans leg up and the slightest breeze on it would have me climbing the walls. It kind of culminated one night in the most terrible pain, it felt like there were things in my leg moving around. When I looked down at my leg (this is horrible) the part that hurt the most, where the skin was good, and normal, all these beads of bright yellow water were oozing out of the good skin.

The next day my daughter took me to A&E. By now there was no point in scanning my leg as it was too swollen to diagnose anything. They gave me a Heparin injection in my stomach and told me to visit the hospital next morning. I never really experienced any pain that I couldn't handle after that Heparin jab. It must have done something.

Where, once again I was prescribed various antibiotics for a week. And, yet again a week later. By the end of this week I had taken 1200 antibiotics.

At no point had anyone suggested elevating my leg. I took matters into my own hands, and prescribed myself almost total bed rest for 2 days so the swelling might go down. Which it did. I returned to the hospital and they congratulated themselves on how the swelling had gone down and said they could scan it now. As soon as they did the ultrasound they saw the blood clot. I know it's a long boring story but I'm trying to show how they could have prevented all this by sending me for a scan the first day before everything got so messed up and it swelled up.

After that I had to inject myself in the stomach every day with Heparin and then they put me on Warfarin.

I don't know what a vein filter is but I'm going to investigate.

Sorry for the really long answers.

I linked to the article on the Westermarck Effect because it briefly summarised the point you make.

This phenomenon is known as genetic sexual attraction.

To thin their blood, it's an anti-coagulant. Rats eat it, then fight and bleed to death from minor cuts. If cats or dogs take even a tiny amount they usually die from an internal haemorrhage. It's clearly highly toxic. If I cut my finger and turn around to get the first aid box it's like a blood bath up the wall from a small cut.

I wasn't happy taking a dose almost three times the average for a human so I stopped.

GiggityGeek [S] 1 point2 points 15 days ago[-]

No, I have a blood clot in my leg. A DVT (my Dita Von Tease I call it). It took them weeks to work it out. The minute they found out what it was they stuck me on Warfarin. I stopped taking it; I'll take my chances without. The extra life I gain from taking it would be spent in the thrice-weekly Warfarin Clinic anyway.

I blame it on my marathon computer sessions, which run concurrently.

My advice to Redditors was deadly serious.

It's still widely used as a rat poisin. 1mg could kill a cat or a dog and any more than that will definitely kill them.

Friend's husband started hitting her and she isn't doing anything.

GiggityGeek 3 points4 points 15 days ago[-]

Just don't give up on her. I was once in a relationship where my partner was violent. The worst part of it is you realise as the incidents continue and you confide in your friends that they are tiring of hearing about it and your inaction. Because you sense this you stop turning to them for support. Hey Presto ! - isolation.

Let her know that you WILL be there for her the day she decides that she's had enough. It may be a while coming but she will eventually want out. Be there for her then, with practical help as well as emotional support. Work out how to keep her safe. That's when she will really need you. In the meantime keep in touch even if she seems distant or is pretending everything is ok.

The Westermarck Effect.

Maybe she had a crappy lawyer and it wasn't taken into account.

But, regardless of our personal opinions on the wrongs of this it IS a recognised behavioral pattern in close family members who have been separated during critical periods of development. As such it would be more appropriate to treat the disorder (which no-one seems to acknowledge must have affected the son as well) rather than to mete out ridiculously harsh punishment.

She should get a new Lawyer and appeal.

Oh, and dump her son.

That's what surprised me. The Westermarck effect. Surely, had this been taken into account her sentence would have been a little more realistic.
