I'm going to second the thanks for being AWESOME. I'm registered but have never been called, it's good to know what's involved in case I ever do get asked.
Also, how long are you there for? Can you eat stuff while you do this? Maybe I'll send something your way.

Writer Neal Stephenson unveils his digital novel The Mongoliad by artmanin scifi
He may well have switched to a machine by now since that info is a bit dated. It comes from an interview he gave post-Neuromancer that I saw as part of some kind of cyberworlds montage film hosted (narrated, conceived?) by Timothy Leary, complete with loads of face-melting computer graphics "from the future!"
I thought it was Gibson who handwrote his books, does Stephenson do that too?

Oracle aims to destroy open source software industry by KableTownin technology
A non-profit with a clearly stated mission that had accepted gifts for one purpose and then used them for another would probably be vulnerable to a class-action lawsuit.
Giving code to an entity that has stated it's motive as profit, can do anything that they deem to be good for profit.

Is it weird that I think that a person should have read and understood at least one software license before speaking on the topic of software licensing?
Wow, this is some straight up carazzzy pants from some dude who bitterly resents being named Dana.

He also authored the GPL.
I think the folks in this thread are probably not the norm. I've been to plenty of "linuxfests" and talked to attendees who had never heard of GNU.
I've also had Torvalds' writings and opinions quoted back to me as if they were politically important -- ironic when you consider the number of times Linus himself has claimed not to care too much.

I can get behind the common cause of being committed to eroding the traditional gender binary. But the competitive "who has it worse?" coming from men is just ludicrous.

This reminded me of Farmer Giles of Ham, which is another Tolkien with nice little drawings all through it. (I have this edition, http://www.coverbrowser.com/image/ballantine-books/694-1.jpg)
