There is a record that I'm after on hhv.de that is quite a bit cheaper than anywhere else (even with the currency being in Euros). I haven't been able to find any reviews or comments about them though, so I was wondering if anyone had feedback on them?

/r/beer had this problem months ago where people were constantly submitting pictures of their latest beer haul. Finally /r/beerporn is getting the submissions it needs.

Now, I don't actually care that much about all the non-review pictures, but, it's not what this subreddit is for. As it turns out, there is already a /r/vinylporn subreddit in existence, so perhaps we can post our beautiful haul pictures there?

DIY Mat?

Has anyone made their own mat for their record player? My Rega RP1 came with a black wool mat, but I was interested in getting a nice bright color on there to contrast with the white base. I'd rather make my own than purchase one; realistically the wool is so cheap that purchasing one seems like a waste (and the money could be better spent on the new Machinedrum or The Slight Below albums).

Creating my own seems like it should be pretty straightforward, but I thought I'd check with my fellow audio junkies first.

Best record store selling classical/jazz/electronic?

I'm heading to Milwaukee for the afternoon tomorrow and I'm looking to pickup some records while I'm there. It looks like Bullseye Records and Musical Memories may be worth checking out. Rushmor may be an option, unfortunately their website doesn't list anything worthwhile. Anyone have some advice?

I have Friday off (hip hip!) and someone (I can't remember who) had the idea of getting together for lunch. I've only been to Pizza Brutta once with a few friends, but it was delicious. Plenty of vegetarian options and I believe they offer some pizza without cheese for our vegan friends.

I was holding out on trying to find a place that would host a beer tasting, but unfortunately Great Dane will only do it if you drink their beer and communication with Brickhouse BBQ just wasn't... pleasant. The other places I contacted simply said they wouldn't do it.

So, I am just going to host the tasting (and everyone can bring a bottle of beer to share). I can only comfortably fit so many people at my place, so just RSVP in the comments and I'll pass along the information!

Edit: Current head count is at 16, and I think that's as many as I can do. I'll try to do another one of these at a location that can hold more people.

Poll: Are you interested and able to attend a reddit beer tasting on July 22nd or 23rd?

Last night I went to the Malt House with two fine redditors to discuss putting together a beer tasting. To help determine if we can get by with holding it at one of our places of residence or if we should pursue striking a deal with some local establishment, we need a rough head count.

The idea is for everyone to bring a bottle or two of a beer they've been dieing to try or just bring your favorite. Also, this tasting will be style neutral, so any style of beer would be welcome (belgians, pumpkin, amber, IPA, etc).

If you have ideas on where to hold a tasting, by all means pass it on. I've done a tasting at Brickhouse BBQ on the third floor and it was a blast; I'm going to see if they let people reserve areas in return for a hundred dollars worth of food purchases (or something similar). Obviously parks are out because of the glass bottle restriction.

I just grabbed two Paradigm Atom v5's and a NAD C325BEE integrated amplifier off Craigslist for $350. I got the TCC TC-760LC phono preamp off Amazon and I'm getting a Rega RP1 from a local audio store.
