When I was 17yrs old me and my best friend (Mario) volunteered at a non profit wildlife sanctuary where we were trained to work with snakes (venomous & non-venomous) alligators, crocs, panthers, bears etc. We were always called out for animal rescues, usually a fox trapped in a back yard or a raccoon stuck in an attic. One day we got a call I would never forget (and one day post on reddit) we got a call from a zoological import company that was trying to pack a 14' male Nile Crocodile into a crate to ship to Taiwan, and in the process they lost control of the animal and it was running loose in they're packing warehouse. Now to setup the packing house it was an old warehouse for a plant nursery, it was a fairly large open space, about 300' x 100' (approx) and it was filled with 1000's of empty tupperware containers stacked up on one side and 100's enclosures containing tarantulas, geckos, frogs etc on the other side(you get the picture right?) now the croc , who the team thankfully managed to black tape his eyes shut just not his feet, (closing the eyes makes the trip less stressful for large reptiles) was literally running loose throughout the entire packing house, knocking over everything in sight, including the containers holding the geckos frogs and spiders.. When we arrived needless to say it was pure pandemonium, they guys had no idea what to do, most of them were running behind the crocs wake, trying to save what animals they could from the ground before they ran off (tarantulas geckos etc). So Mario and I honed in on the Nile croc and carefully chased behind it waiting for the oppertune moment to jump on its back (Steve Irwin style, he was our role model back the, RIP steve) finally the croc started to get tired and slowed down, Mario and I then jumped right on his head and neck to pin him down then all the other guys followed behind us over powering and stopping the chaos. let me also add that Mario and I were the smallest, youngest guys there, amongst other handlers that had more way experience then we did. I guess we just young and dumb, but we knew what we were doing, got the job done, and walked away, unscathed. We were heroes. it felt good. that is all.
