TROPHY CASE

Are different fruits more/less healthy for you? by merkeyin nutrition

[–]EatMoreFiber 1 point2 points ago

Yes, nutritional content can vary quite a bit from fruit to fruit. Here's a big list of some popular fruits and veggies to help you quickly compare.

For more detailed information, I like http://nutritiondata.self.com/. Just be sure you take note of the serving size so you're not comparing, uh, apples and oranges.

I've really come to dislike Adult Swim recently. What's something you thought you'd love forever, but have grown to hate? by AskMeAboutMyScrotumin AskReddit

Drugs. If you'd told me ten years ago I'd prefer to be up and doing things early on a Saturday morning over getting high and partying late on a Friday night, I would not have believed you. Who knew?

The Flaming Lips play Seven Nation Army (White Stripes) just like you think they would. by bassheroin coversongs

The Lips are still the best live show I've ever seen. If they come anywhere near your area, it's worth the drive to see them.

As controversial and partisan as the "TP under or over the roll" debate, standing to wipe vs crouching/leaning to wipe is one of those instinctual behaviors that is so ingrained, each camp can hardly believe the others aren't just putting them on about it.

Co-worker found this pup in need of a new home on the local Craigslist here in Norfolk, Virginia. Can't imagine he'll be on the market long with eyes like that, but serious inquiries are welcome to PM me for the link to the CL post.

Cool shit for a 1-year-old to do in Hampton Roads? by EatMoreFiberin norfolk

Yeah, true enough about the lil guy. Looking for things to do/places to go that his parents and I might enjoy with him in tow is probably a better way to phrase it.

Somewhat related, NPR had an excellent piece about "the talk" that some black parents feel is necessary to give their children as they become adolescents. Basically warning them to be extra cautious when dealing with police:

What is the talk?

BRITT: The talk is what many black parents have with their sons - and daughters, but more, probably more often, their sons. It's a preparatory explanation and a warning, to let them know what's out there for them. You know, when they shift from the adorableness of childhood into, you know, their early preteen and teen years, where they can perceived as dangerous, as threatening, as things that most of them really aren't.

Get right fucked for posting with such an urgent title on a non-emergency question. It's only been a few weeks since we had an OD watch on here, something that deserves an all-caps request for assistance.

Why not just ask your doctor IF you even have to go?

LPT REQUEST: How to remember to turn off your headlights. by scottainoin LifeProTips

[–]EatMoreFiber 1 point2 points ago

You need to build a headlight double-check into your routine. Mine goes something like: Park the car, pop the seatbelt, turn off the lights, open the door, get out, lock it, close it, check the lock, leave the scene. Every time the same, and eventually it feels out if, for some reason, I do something out of order or skip a step.

It may be counter-intuitive, but my routine grew out of my habit for always having my headlights on, even during the day. That way I know I always need to turn them off and don't have to remember only on rainy days or at night.

American Redditors, I am interested in learning about rivalry between states. Does it exist? by trololliesin AskReddit

The UP is gorgeous, but only habitable for about 6 or 10 weeks a year (when it gets warm in July/August), and you still should pack a jacket just in case.

Not to nitpick memes (oh god what has my life come to?) but seems better to have top half be Success Kid, bottom half Bad Luck Brian? Nothing really socially awesome/awkward about the situation.
