I don't want to live on a planet where people judge others for their appearance.

I could, but the information is already collated and presented well. I'd rather not waste my time.

Yep. I read it yesterday. The charts are color versions of the b&w Kindle versions.

The full data is in the report. You can see that information there. The graph is not meant to give that information.

Yes. Figure 3-1 shows the percentage of 10k / year, people are earning. You don't need to pepper in your "I don't care" phrases. Just say you don't understand the data. No reason to get mad about not understanding something.

And I have a feeling that what you just said was an empty criticism. Do you have any valid points to bring up or are you just going to make broad platitudes that don't mean anything?

Sure, the prime borrows are great, but remember that each Prime member gets 1 book / month so most of them will use that for expensive books. Setting books to free using Kindle Select no longer translates into high rankings when books go back to paid, so the system is best used for authors with a large back catalog or for books in a series.

From a data set of 1007 self-selected and self-published authors. Not a representative sample, but interesting nonetheless. The disparate bits of data I've seen elsewhere line up with this data pretty well.

There is much more good info in the book they released today, which you can learn more about here: http://blog.taleist.com/2012/05/24/report-self-publishing-survey/

This might be a problem that is exclusive to me because I read about self-publishing and internet marketing all day, everyday, but is anybody else fed up with all the fluff out there in this space? by DougLancein selfpublish

[–]DougLance[S] 0 points1 point ago

That is an ad hominum fallacy. Every statement must stand on its own. John Locke was the first self-pubbed author to sell 1 million copies. I read the book he put out about how he did it and most of the things he said made no sense. He doesn't know how he did it. Or if he did, the book was intentionally unclear. If you trusted everything he said, you'd be lead astray.

Reader Q&A: What is the best way to promote a new book today? by GlowingBridein selfpublish

[–]DougLance -1 points0 points ago

Your books are hardly selling. I do not think you are qualified to talk about this. Seeking readers in your own genre is pretty self-evident. Why are you trying to steal my attention instead of earning it?
