TROPHY CASE

It's Myst! It's the puzzle done with the constellations that leads to the ship being raised from the water.

The problem lies in how you determine "life skills". When you're told that school, as it stands now as an institution, is the way to go, then doing exactly what Calvin points out happens to be a "life skill".

The layered sound you achieve is amazing, especially for mixing hats with long and short attack. I always find myself feeling that my hats get muddled a bit when I do that, but you sir have given me hope! Keep up the good work!

I can't even express how much I love that slightly pitch-lifting synth that comes in almost right away! The filtering you use to go into your breakdowns is also really intriguing, truly adds the flow in a way I wasn't expecting.

Oh my God that bass. Let me talk about that bass. 1:29, I have no words, the way that sub-bass comes in so clear in the mix, despite the slight synth on top, woah. I can also safely say that I have never enjoyed the climbing pitch shift that you do before breakdowns more than in this track, so well composed.

The clicking build you have at 3:04 is just spectacular, especially over those string-like synths, it brings such a dynamic quality to the mix. From there on out all I can say is the glitch aspect you take with the lead and bass is amazing, even more so with the minimalist drums and bass towards the very end. I would love to hear more of what you have! Keep it up!

The guitar-like synth complements the vocal line so amazingly, very professional sounding. That bass drum underneath is so carefully placed, it ducks out just when it needs to as well. Your "drop" at :42 was wonderful! The pitch shifting of that synth to make it sound almost telephone-like is incredible, if you feel like sharing how you got it I'd be very appreciative!

The breakdown at 2:24 is everything I love about this genre, the syncopation of the vocal line glitching in combination with the evolving bass line is phenomenal, so much love!

The way the beat breaks down a bit afterwards gives the such a different color to the mix, I really enjoyed hearing it end like that. Are you using a slight mix of white noise with your snare? Overall, super impressed, can't wait to hear more!!

Ah the harmony of those first synths!! So well matched, it gives it such a dynamic sound that encourages all the changes you bring in later. Are you by any chance using the "magical 8 bit plugin"? If not I think you would absolutely love how versatile it is.

The entrance at 1:50 may be my favorite part. Just when I though I wanna gonna listen to a relaxed breakdown you just brought it all back in over the drums, and so wonderfully mixed, too! And may I just say, the ending synths sound very classically influenced and fit soooooo well in the rest of the track! Thank you for sharing this!

Love it! That bass plays really nicely into the syncopation of drums, really makes its own beat. The nice crisp yet sustaining sound of your high-hat is also fantastic, was that just done with EQ or was there more filtering done?

I also love the way you use white noise, it doesn't overtake the mix, just sorta sneaks in exactly where it's needed! Well done, glad to know about this track!

I've always wondered, is Simpler or Sampler fair game for synthesizing sound? I mean technically it just warps it how you would without all the nitty gritty. Apologies of this is a basic question, I just got Ableton.

They're the individual tracks of a multitrack, so the isolated instruments, or sometimes bussed tracks.

Exactly, a combo of panning and eq. However, some of the DLC songs are made the same way as the preloaded, and can be ripped down to multitracks as well. Opens the door to a ton of potential resources.

Oooo, I came back to add one more: Maroon 5. Those funky lead lines and vocals would be amazing to mix!

Nice, those are the ones I got too. If you look around hard enough, or have access to the game, you can not only download the preloaded songs multitracks but also a few well done user-made ones.

Basically any Journey song. They're just such versatile clips that can be artfully placed in so many different styles. Isolating parts can be done but it's really not the same.

On a different note, has anyone ever had success getting stems from Rock band multitracks?
