IWTL how to control my anger by pathetichumanin IWantToLearn

[–]Dogmaa 11 points12 points ago

Go back and watch Star Wars again. It's like being a Jedi really - you have great power, and it can feel momentarily gratifying to see things submit to your force - much strength can be channeled from your rage. However, that sith-like path only makes you easier to manipulate and even regretful or ashamed in the long run.

Consider serenity instead. Recognize that you are an intense competitor. Recognize that you see colors brighter than many others - you're brimming with emotion and you wear that on your sleeve. These are amazing traits to have, it's just about how you channel them - all you have to do is choose. Light or Dark? Approaching a problem with a clear head is far more likely to yield a solution. The universe wants to help you, you just have to let it.

The IMF's projection of Greek GDP growth. Are Greeks supposed to discover magic in 2013 or something? by TheHeadlinerin Economics

haha I feel like all of Greece is a college student who's been slacking off all semester, and just in the last two weeks started to calculate what they needed...

"I can get a B if I just get a 95 on every assignment left"

"All I have to do is ace everything left for a C"

"I need a 109% on the final to pass.."

Master of Science in Economics looking for help with cover letter please. Give me your feedback. by parrotsnestin resumes

It's really long, and it's essentially an essay version of your resume. Try and consider it more of a liaison between your resume and the job you want - specifically, why does all that experience on your resume mean you'll be good at the job you're applying for?

for example:

I seek to utilize both my economics education and work experience.

How will you utilize it?

I am a highly motivated individual, and I feel that my past experiences attest to this.

This is perfect, and really all that you need to say about that - your resume will contain the specifics about where you went to school what you studied etc. The resume and cover letter should compliment each other.

Make it clear what job you're applying for and why you're the best fit.

Also, drop the "in conclusion," from the first sentence of your last paragraph, it's redundant.

Agreed, it's essentially a girl telling you you're attractive right off the bat - you should be able to turn it to your advantage!

I can't imagine how many girls I've met that probably would have flirted (or showed some signs of interest) but didn't because they assumed I was gay.

This seems slightly... wishful? presumptuous? I'm not sure of the word exactly, but are you sure you're not just making excuses? If people think you're gay it's probably as much about how you present yourself/mannerisms as your clothes. Without seeing more of you/your specific situation it's hard to call.

It doesn't just have to be classic lit either. The Economist has a fabulously sharp and almost sublime style that has really taught me a lot. It's also very readable and great to stay up on current events with. Plus you always look like the smartest motherfucker in the room when you've got it in your hands.
