The idea of wearing heavy clothes during cardio to increase thermogenesis is bullshit, right?

Scumbag History Channel by ThePhilosopherGurlin AdviceAnimals

[–]DogPencil 2 points3 points ago

It's all about ratings and revenue. It's the same reason MTV doesn't play videos, the same reason you hear the same 15 songs on the radio over and over and the same reason the History Channel has undergone these changes. It's not about integrity or being true to their mission statement. It's about the number of people who consume their product. Like it or not, they get more viewers with programming most of us find laughable.

I can't blame them too much. Given the choice of putting on a documentary about the Korean War or "Ancient Aliens," which will draw three times the viewers, I'm sure there's lots of pressure from the suits to focus on the one with the greatest revenue potential.

Really? I had Hep A when I was a kid. Do you think that would disqualify me?

I'd just end up owing myself money.

Who else hated it when this came on? by kbethxin nostalgia

I watched it every week. Finally there was a news program for me, a news program I could understand. I was 34 at the time.

Lives in another planet, is designed for the human head. by gabodragin gaming

I HATE WHEN I OPEN SOMETHING FROM R/GAMING!

It has a ton of upvotes and comments. I assume it's highly entertaining, but I don't know what it means because I don't play games. I feel like the outsider at school, the kid who doesn't know the inside jokes.

I'm tempted to start gaming just to get more out of my reddit experience. In other words, I'm thinking about caving into peer pressure just so I'll have something in common with you guys because you seem to have such a good time.

Suggestions for Chengdu, China by ali_421in travel

I like the idea arriving in Emeishan, sleeping one night at a hostel before beginning your trek and then spending another night on the mountain on your way up. Reach the summit the following day and take the bus back down.

I don't remember any dish in particular. I just remember it being the best food I had during my time in China. Be warned: it can be a bit spicy.

As far as getting to Mt. Emei, it's not so hard. There are multiple daily buses from Chengdu, but you'll still need to get a taxi from the bus station to the base of the mountain. I recommend getting there in the mid-afternoon and staying at one of the hostels near the base and taking off early the next morning. Teddy Bear hostel is a good one. By the way, there is a fee to enter the Mt. Emei.

Yes, go see the pandas and spend the rest of the day touring Chengdu and eating the GREAT food.

Climbing Mt. Emei (Emeishan) is also amazing, but you should allow at least two days for this, sleeping at temples and/or monasteries on the way up. Watch out for cheeky monkeys along the way. Alternatively, you could catch a shuttle to the top and see it in a day. The weather was horrible when I was there. I was walking through rain and fog the entire time and the view from the top was horrible; however, on a clear day, it's said to be brilliant.

Also within the Chengdu area is Leshan, home of the world's largest Buddha.

In the north of Sichuan is Jiuzhaigou, a pristine national park with snow covered mountains, crystal blue streams and some of the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen. It's about 8-10 hours by bus from Chengdu to the park, so you'd have to sort out lodging there as well, but they have lots of hotels.

Have fun!

May I suggest taking 6-12 months to travel? Go see the world, my friend.

The same goes for a lot of brazilians I know. They also confuse kitchen and chicken.
