I was at a store last year during the Holiday that was selling this for $22 a bottle...it was glorious.

TIL that during WWII, the silk of black widows was used to make crosshairs in guns used by the U.S. Army, as it is stronger than steel or platinum wire of the same thickness. by iDrinkYourShakein todayilearned

In 2002 the Nexia Biotechnologies company and the U.S. Army Soldier and Biological Chemical Command discovered how to manufacture spider silk without using spiders. They took the genes responsible for silk production and implanted them in cells of a cow udder and hamster kidney. These cells gradually produced a protein-rich mixture, the proteins of which were squeezed together to create silk filaments.

Let's embrace this momentum and roll back all policies rooted in fear and ignorance. Time to tackle Immigration Reform, the DREAM Act, and all policies that fail to recognize and respect our common humanity. by Dengarin politics

First of all, thanks for sharing. It's hard sometimes to look at a issue practically when you are emotionally clouded by some of the other aspects of a complicated issue. My problem is that immigrants who come to the United States--both legally and illegally--are not always protected as they should be. Most are afraid to report violent crimes, sexual abuse, work place discrimination, and a host of other problems.

No on should ever be afraid to report a crime based on their fear of deportation, nor should they be in a position where people can take advantage of them. Our policy regarding immigration has been desensitized by approaching it from an economic or security perspective. They aren't an economic burden. They aren't a sap on our healthcare system. They are real people trying to do what is best for themselves and their families.

I just tried American Honey, and I love it - so smooth! How does it rate amongst the denizens of /r/bourbon? by [deleted]in bourbon

[–]Dengar 1 point2 points ago

It's OK, sir! Don't be discouraged. I don't mind a little American Honey mixed in with some Root Beer! Just because it's not bourbon doesn't mean you can't enjoy it. But, while you are here, enjoy great bourbon tips and suggestions.
