In response to Donald's recent rapping and Chevy's recent rambling by Oracle_of_Wankerin community

[–]Deathistheroadtoawe 0 points1 point ago

Put Donald Glover up against people like Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, Earl, Big K.R.I.T., and others that are relatively new like him and you will see the quality of his lyrics. By comparing his lyrics to Nicki Minaj all you have shown is that his lyrics are better than the worst mainstream "rapper" out there. Cool, he is better than, IMO, dog shit. Doesn't mean that his lyrics are genius by any means. Or even good.

(Spoilers ALL) What areas of the story do you think will not be resolved by the end of A Dream of Spring? by Nukemarinein asoiaf

The one omission from the list that can change everything is the Others. We don't know much about them or their battle plans. If they invade Westeros, I am pretty sure that is what will take up the latter half of The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring.

Let's recap where things stand at the end of A Dance with Dragons:

  • You will have the Battle of Winterfell and the Battle of Mereen within the first few hundred pages.
  • You will be dealing with the Sand Snakes in King's Landing.
  • Cersei will attempt to assume the regency following the death of Kevan.
  • Both Margaery and Cersei's trials are going to take place.
  • Arya is beginning her apprenticeship under Izembaro.
  • Sansa/Alayne will be with Littlefinger at the Vale.
  • Samwell Tarly is in Oldtown, forging his maester chain with Alleras/Sarella Sand.
  • Victarion and perhaps Marwyn the Mage are moving ever closer to Dany in Mereen.
  • Jaime is with Brienne seemingly heading to Lady Stoneheart.
  • Bran is learning the greenseeing ways from Bloodraven.
  • Davos is on his way to return Rickon, Shaggywolf and Osha to the North.
  • Stannis holds Asha and Theon several leagues outside of Winterfell.
  • Roose Bolton is losing his grip over the North by the minute.
  • Young Griff and Jon Connington have returned to Westeros to reclaim his birthright.
  • Arianne and Doran Martell are going to be making a big power play now that Young Griff is in Westeros.
  • Dany finally realizes that she has to show her enemies the meaning of Fire and Blood.
  • Tyrion is finally rehabilitated after killing his father. He was such in a such a mess at the beginning of Dance, but by the end he seemingly has returned to his normal self.
  • Jon is dead or dying, but who the hell knows where his story goes from here. The Night's Watch is about to be slaughtered by the wildings that remain.

That is where the majority of the story stands at the end of A Dance with Dragons. If you think that there is going to be "lots of build-up, characters moving around on the map, a few loose ends being tied up", then I don't know what to tell you. The Winds of Winter has tremendous potential to be as action packed as A Storm of Swords.

The top desired choice will probably be Oberyn v. the Mountain.

Here are some of my choices:

  • House of Undying.
  • Sack of Astapor.
  • Sansa's snow Winterfell at the Eyrie.
  • Doran Martell: Vengeance, Justice, Fire & Blood
  • Davos and Wyman Manderly's conversation beneath the Merman Court.
  • The Fight at the Fist of the First Men.

Stannis doesn't value Stark leadership. He values what defending the Stark name will get for him. No one wants Stannis for their king so he had to earn their loyalty and the only way to do that is to remove the Boltons from Winterfell, thus avenging the Starks. He doesn't care who rules in the North as long as they pledge fealty to him. Stark, Manderly, Umber, Bolton, Dustin. It doesn't matter as long as they recognize him as king.

Blake Griffin hits himself in the face, can't believe the foul isn't called. by Micstein nba

[–]Deathistheroadtoawe 4 points5 points ago

Diva? Maybe. But his ability is undeniable. 108 goals in 92 appearances for Madrid. Back to back seasons of 50+ goals in domestic + Champion's League. Not even the great Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima did that.

Wouldn't say he is putting the Ronaldo name to shame at all.

Is anyone else excited at the prospect of a LAL vs. LAC first round match up? by raycadaverin nba

[–]Deathistheroadtoawe 6 points7 points ago

It would be an awful series for the Clippers. Andrew Bynum absolutely owns DeAndre Jordan. Had his first 40 point game against him in 2007 and has dominated him ever since then. Also, Blake Griffin simply cannot guard Pau Gasol. Blake is a force of nature on offense when given a chance near the basket, but if he is forced to take jumpers and create his own shot he will likely struggle. Gasol is just too long and too tall for Blake.

It would definitely be exciting and a very physical series. I would be surprised though if it went more than 5 games due to the Clippers matching up terribly with the Lakers.

[–]Deathistheroadtoawe 2 points3 points ago

I never said that professional basketball is a "real situation". Just responding to your claim:

There are no 'real" tough guys in the league.

The three guys I listed are guys with toughness and a hard edge to them based on how they act. The interesting thing about all three of them is that they are considered great teammates by everyone they have played with, Stephen Jackson especially.

Pretty sure Tony Allen, Stephen Jackson, Ron Artest are actual tough guys. Don't think anyone really wants to step to any of those three in a real situation.

House of Undying. Also, Tyrion's dinner he was with Cersei where she confronts him with Alayaya, thinking that she has Shae. The way Tyrion handled that was perfect.

Luke is, by most accounts, an awesome locker room guy. His back is the main reason why he hasn't been able to get minutes on the Lakers in addition to the fact that they had 3 SFs in addition to himself. He is a solid role player and a good locker room guy. People tend to give him shit for his contract, but I feel like this ire and jabs should be directed elsewhere. Say Rashard Lewis who is god-fucking awful and getting paid $22 million this year.
