These brushstrokes are a wee bit broad, I feel.

Is Matt Forte worth as much as LeSean McCoy? by Aeuthenticin nfl

[–]Danno_Davis 2 points3 points ago

My answer is no. I just don't think Forte is as explosive as McCoy. Forte gets tackled for a loss an awful lot, too. I dunno. I'm a Bears fan, but I don't think numbers tell the whole story here.

Yeah, we should start a movement to halt their wars, drone attacks and indefinite detention of anyone suspected of terror.

Snark aside, do you seriously avoid everything made in China? I feel like half the shit I own has at least some parts made there.

What are your favorite foreign idioms and phrases? by perrysixin AskReddit

I love the French je ne sais quoi, which literally means I-don't-know-what. Whenever something has a really attractive quality, but you can't put your finger on precisely what it is... So it's great for people like me who can never think of "the word."

This is the truth. Preach it. People are making it seem as though they are left with no choice but to commit slow financial suicide.

Marshall thinks Hester will have a big year by rudeboybillin CHIBears

[–]Danno_Davis 2 points3 points ago

I'm not going to get excited about this, either; I've just had too much disappointment with Hester as a WR. Brandon does seem like he's going to be a pretty cool teammate on the Bears, though.

That being said, what would we say is the #1 reason he couldn't get it done as a WR? Is it that his skill set doesn't translate into the WR position? Or that WR isn't just something you can "pick up" after you've mastered the art of returning kicks?

Alshon Jeffery vs Nebraska Capital One Bowl 2012 by LinuxUser4Lifein CHIBears

That corner on him may have been acting like a punk, but if my reading of the trusty sidebar is correct, we play Cortland Finnegan and the Rams in Week 3. Dude's gotta keep his wits about him.

Agreed on the "People are not corporations" part, but such a bill wouldn't cut it with this court. It would need to be a constitutional amendment. The Supreme Court (read: the John Roberts Court) would strike that down in a New York minute.

DAE think it's time to move to artificial grass at Soldier Field? by Callous_Matin CHIBears

[–]Danno_Davis 1 point2 points ago

From my years of watching the Bears at Soldier Field, it just seems like their guys tend to slip on it more often than our guys do. That's the advantage of having a funky variable at your home stadium. Our guys should be more acclimated to the turf and more able to get their footing right just because they're on it more often.

I think our offense benefits from having grass, too. Look at our current receiving corps. First off, it's plausible that Johnny Knox could've been a much better receiver on turf, where he could accelerate and utilize his speed better. I felt like he was always slipping and getting pushed around at Soldier Field. As for our current roster, though, Earl's great on the grass, and I think Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery are the type of players that can excel on it as well. They're not players who dominate with their cuts and speed. It's their size and hands that make the difference. I think DBs are going to be falling all over the place this year trying to defend them.

You make a decent point about Shea and Pep, though.

I must say... From YouTube highlights alone--which is all I have to go on, really--I'm more impressed by his highlight reel than I was for Blackmon's or Floyd's. Dude looks like a beast. Is it weird that I'm more stoked about this pick than I was about McClellin? (Although that pick's been growing on me, too...)

Former Bear Hunter Hillenmeyer on football violence: "All NFL salaries are bounties" - thought provoking essay by astrobeenin nfl

[–]Danno_Davis 4 points5 points ago

Simply because you heard people saying something similar on the internet doesn't make it any less thought-provoking. It was refreshingly well-written, and the connection he made to violence against civilians in Iraq contained a good bit of insight, too. It's to point out one of the many ways that violence reaches a level of acceptability: because it's separated by distance (as in his example of bombs in Iraq dropped by drones controlled by a soldier sitting in Colorado). You don't hear current or former NFL players making these kinds of connections too often.

Soldier Field da Bears and what the hell is going on with the Vikes by chitwinin CHIBears

Almost as lame as the LA Lakers. That would be pretty messed up if LA stole another Minnesota team and just left the incongruous name there out of spite.

Is it just me that thinks that Kellen Davis can be a perennial Pro Bowler? by FratDaddy69in CHIBears

[–]Danno_Davis 0 points1 point ago

Dude is a beast, and I want to believe this. He should have his openings this year, what with Martz gone and the attention that Brandon's going to attract.

While we're on the topic, am I the only one who isn't really feeling the dunk he does after a TD? Something weird and awkward about it when tight ends do it, I guess.

NFL Schedule: Chicago Bears 2012 Regular Season Schedule by yngvius11in CHIBears

Awww yeah. That's a great feeling, getting the significant other on board. The conversion was finally complete with mine about halfway through last season. She's this tiny, Japanese, Urlacher fan who cries either cries tears of joy or happiness at least once a game. I'll take it.

Not sure about tickets.
