I've given you an upvote for a well-reasoned response, even though I disagree (which is how, I feel, Reddit should work). In preparing for the sale of this set, I ran a price check here, and the feedback came back at 7-8 Buds.

People on TF2 Outpost seem to be asking quite a bit for a Sunbeams Phantom. Here's one at 8 Buds, and here's one asking greater than 6 Buds / $200. In regards to Burning Magistrate's, it's hard to find a price, but here's a Beams Magistrate's with an offer of at least 3 Buds.

Now, my price, as well as the earlier-mentioned check, seems in line with this seller here asking 3 Buds & 4 Keys for the Purple Energy Magistrate's, and this seller here is asking 6 Buds for his Green Energy Phantom.

Ultimately, though, I feel I have placed a competitive price on a set which I am very attached to. The market will decide, and with the rarity of Buds nowadays and the fact that astonishingly few people have this many Buds, my chances of selling are slim.

But I'm OK with that, because I'm in complete agreement with you - white energy is both rare and awesome!

Hi curiously,

I very much agree about people getting very angsty about 'themed'. I think that it is, albeit not in the way that people used the term around TF2. A Stormy Stom Hard Counter is, in my opinion, a gimmick, rather than a theme; whereas a Spy as a 15th Century French Courtier is themed. Your point is valid, though, just me being pedantic about terms. Sincere thanks for the feedback!

Well, lots of people have written lots of opinions about this, ranging from "Screw you, we have Buds!" to "Keys will become the default currency". I can tell you, anecdotally, that 18 months ago, no unusual was bartered for in keys; now it's commonplace.

DMttG's opinion: Buds will be a form of unusual (an all class misc) that will no longer be considered a currency. Keys will replace them. I think we're in the transition now.

What a nice hat. Most people, obviously, prefer to trade in Buds & Bill's, which are easily liquidated for keys. At the moment, Buds seem to be around 24 keys, Bill's around 9.

The smoking effect seems to be quite common (I counted 5 people wanting to trade one away on tf2 outpost). The effect is somewhat thematically strong, but on the other hand, Pyro is not a highly-sought class for unusuals (Medic, Scout, Demo & Soldier have that 'honour'), and Smoking is a mid-tier effect. I've had a Vivid Plasma pyro hat, and it was a pain to sell.

I would offer a Bud & Bill's as a start price, if you are keen to sell, I would buy at that price. Otherwise, best of luck in your trades!

Thanks Jafoos! Can I say that if anyone is interested in a very pleasant, easygoing server, that the Descendants of Prometheus server makes for a really nice gaming experience? Good combination of competitive and friendly. I use my alt account for TF2 mostly, nowadays (White Harlequin). Give my regards to the <DoP> folk!

It's absolutely possible with Energy combinations of Luchadore, Anger, Bonk Boy, Beak, and Braniac. I think that's all, and it makes a very pretty combination.
