George Orwell lived here by verbifyin pics

I recently stayed at a hotel called the Orwell in Felixstowe. They put us in room 101.

Bricks were shat.

Has anyone looked into using a mouse and keyboard? by Delta-16in PS3

[–]DJGibbon 1 point2 points ago

As far as I know, pretty much no games work with a USB keyboard and mouse - would involve coding support explicitly for them as it's such a different scheme.

On the other hand there are solutions like the XIM - I actually built myself one, and it works pretty well. What it really revealed to me, though, was just how used I'd got to using a controller.

I still have it in a drawer. Would happily pass it on to a redditor for the cost of parts.

UK band, The Musgraves, an appeal for the return of their equipment - Stolen near Birmingham, L0itchfield by rockshandyin unitedkingdom

[–]DJGibbon 0 points1 point ago

Seriously harsh :( And Lichfield's such a nice town too! It's not like you were hanging around in Tamworth! (Disclaimer: I lived in Tamworth)

Do you gig around the local area much or does it tend to be in Brum? Not much of a music scene in Lichfield / Tamworth / Burton, unless I'm missing something . . .

Did you mean Lichfield? That's just down the road from me. Was it Lichfield centre (such as it is) or somewhere further out?

I will of course keep my eyes open but (un?)fortunately I don't know anyone who'd do anything like this.

Best of luck reclaiming your stuff, though.

Reddit, what are some sexual experiences for you that seemed a lot better 'on paper' before you did them? One for me would be having sex in the shower. by translucentin AskReddit

[–]DJGibbon 14 points15 points ago

I am a hairy hairy man. Anytime we have tried to get foodstuffs involved in the loving has resulted in involuntary waxing experiences for me and immediately cessation of sexy time.

Not recommended.

Is there another _active_ skyrim subreddit with less images\macros\jokes and more game discussions like builds\tactics\etc? by stigmatein skyrim

I don't know, I find Destruction pretty OP actually. Now I've got free casting from enchanted items and guaranteed stagger from double casting, it's rare I even take a hit. Can take a few casts, but even a dragon does down in 10 or so adept-level spells.

I think it's a shame they didn't give a higher-level version of the constant-cast spells, they're absolutely useless after the first few levels. But should be so fun!

Does any one not use a companion? by TIMtoKILLin skyrim

[–]DJGibbon 1 point2 points ago

Sweet, and now I've found out how to fix the companions-not-levelling bug on consoles, it might actually be worth having someone along again!

It's the two-handed R2 attack. It supposedly buffs allies a smallish amount, but considering how vulnerable you are while doing it, it's unlikely to be of much use :)

My wonderful wife got me this Cunningham DVD for my birthday a few years ago. She refuses to watch it though, as it freaks her out too much :)

True. But where Watchdog is useful is that it keeps tabs on CPU usage, rather than memory - and excessive CPU usage is one thing that will properly hammer your battery. Has saved me several times.

Both a TV and a gaming monitor in the front room, man.

She watches the shows that I can't stand while I play games, and being in the same room just feels a lot better.

Square dancing flies by whatatwitin whatsthisbug

Afraid I can't help with identification, but I see exactly the same behaviour here in the UK (Midlands). Not sure if it's standard fly behaviour in still air or for a particular species though.

Why do people have different "types"? How are our ideas of attractiveness created? by hitchcocklikedblondsin explainlikeimfive

One theory is that we're attracted to people with a different set of immunity genes - citation

I think socialisation has a lot more to do with it though.

You completely skip any regions where you'd need that drop when you use the shortcut.

In NG, I wouldn't recommend it because of the important Izalith items, but for NG+ it can be a godsend

PROTIP: The Stray Demon's AOE attack does MAGIC damage, not fire, despite the way it looks. by apierionin darksouls

[–]DJGibbon 0 points1 point ago

For some reason I destroyed Stray on second attempt, but needed about 10 on Firesage. Kept getting stuck in the geometry of the room and getting hit.

Also IIRC I was decked our for fire resist, rather than magic . . . which by the sounds of it wouldn't have made life any easier

I just beat Seath the Scaleless by ragingrokuin darksouls

[–]DJGibbon 0 points1 point ago

You don't have to 2h to get his tail off - it just helps with getting enough damage out. I certainly did it one handed.

Also, the Demon Ruins has the Centipede Demon, who I found one of the hardest bosses. Of course, ymmv ;)

In addition to what everyone else has said, if you really want to move around faster while wearing heavyish armour, you need the Dark Wood Grain Ring.
