North of Jefferson, West of Hoover, East of Vermont, and South of Adams. It's pretty secure in this little city block. Depends on the apartment or house, but most are way less than $1000 a month, and you can get your own room.

This is the first thing I thought when I read the location. And at 1am. But, this is also the first time I've heard of in my entire life that someone was killed in a carjacking. I have a friend who was carjacked (not at USC) and he got pistol whipped. Sure, sometimes drivers get beaten badly, but you buy yourself a whole lot more trouble by killing the driver. The murderer is an idiot.

Very true. I corrected "most" to "many." And if he's right next to campus, it definitely doesn't matter if he's west or south. He probably just doesn't want to end up in Baldwin Village.

Many students live in this area. There's something called "Graduate Row" that you may want to look in to, but I don't know enough about it to recommend it to you. Everything circled is within a 10-minute walk, max, to campus.

Edit: A general rule that many students living off campus have is to stay east of Vermont, and north of Exposition. The area I circled in the map is probably 98% students only. You probably won't have to put up with real world problems like traffic and construction (and also burglary), at least without the notification of the university, if you live in the circled area. USC is in South Central, but not too deep. South of Exposition and West of Vermont is where it starts getting a little dicey; you start getting into Boyz n the Hood film locations the further away you get from campus. Great movie btw.

No doubt, NCAA '12 does its part to ensure the hatred of "Tribute to Troy" among the CFB crew, as it is used for EVERYTHING 'SC does in the game.

Oh P.S. for other SC dudes, take advantage of that "custom stadium sounds" feature. I added some that included Conquest, the Spellout, Tusk, and, of course, Fight On, each sound for its situation within the game. What sucks is that it only works when I'm the home team :(. Totally worth the effort though.

Hmm... "Conquest" before the game and after extra points, the "Socal Spellout" before kickoffs, and the (awesome) lighting of the Olympic Torch at the start of the 4th Quarter. Maybe the game clock turning green for one second at the 4:20 mark of the 4th Quarter? But honestly, I'd be happy if they just added our fight song to the game.

Mike Garrett was, unquestionably, a douche; I personally believe his figurative "flipping the bird" to the NCAA during the investigation was what caused the sanctions. Everyone in the athletic department (especially non-football athletes) was glad to see him go.
