Yeah, I hope they change the AH in the near future. You should be able to take down your item posting at any time. At the very least, swap it out for another posting.

I understand why they have a limit and why you have to wait two days between posting (in a theoretical slot), because otherwise you'd have tens of thousands of people posting upwards of 100 items a day. However, ten seems like it's on the low side and two days also seems like it's a bit on the long side.

[–]Crashburn_Alley 0 points1 point ago

You don't understand the concept of "burden of proof". You seem to be mixing that phrase up with "not it!"

This is a /r/starcraft discussion so there's literally zero chance that you will admit you're wrong, but look at the graph you posted. Look at the difference in percentages. What is your sample size? What is your margin of error? What is the date range of the data? (The fluctuations may be explainable by the metagame, for instance.)

It appears that you are simply posting a graph without being able to answer any of those questions. As you're the one making the positive claim ("Terran doesn't have stronger early game than protoss"), the burden of proof is actually on you. Your evidence needs to be vetted and properly sourced if you're actually interested in the type of discussion where "burden of proof" is a thing. But I get the impression you'd rather just whine about balance.

Go to July 25. http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/PIT/2011-schedule-scores.shtml

That happened and we're about two months away from that point.

Or, if you prefer, go to September 13. http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/PHI/2007-schedule-scores.shtml

Yeah, most people complain about it on Twitter, but that's it. Myself and a few others have called/emailed the various outlets that give him a podium outlining his wrongdoings and why we're offended. Unfortunately, ten people doing that isn't quite as effective as 100 or 1,000.

Not sure if you caught the Joe Cowley controversy recently, but he made some misogynistic comments on Twitter. After myself and a bunch of others called/emailed the Chicago Sun-Times, his Twitter was deleted. Not sure if he was fired or not but his employer did take quick action because of the swell of support for the woman who was the target of his slimy tweets.

Yeah, it sucks but we as a community need to do a better job of excommunicating the worst among us. Kyle Scott only gets portrayed as being one of us because we (the royal we~) let him.

The average fan (or fan since 2009, in many cases) doesn't want in-depth statistical analysis. They just want boorish, beer-drenched nonsense and campaigns to FIRE EVERYBODY when we lose a few games.

I actually disagree with this. While the amount of people who want to personally dig into stat analysis is incredibly small, people do enjoy it when others do the dirty work. This is why you've seen a huge shift in content from the beat writers. If, in 2009, you had told me that a good portion of the Phillies' beat crew (e.g. David Hale, Matt Gelb, and David Murphy) would be publishing Saber-heavy stuff on a routine basis, I'd have called you nuts. But people like it, as evidenced by what's on their blogs and the success of blogs like mine, The Good Phight, and Brotherly Glove. Furthermore, other teams' TV broadcasts and stadiums have incorporated advanced stats. For example:

You also have ESPN's Jon Sciambi (national broadcaster) as a proponent of Sabermetrics, and I hear David Cone brings them up on the Yankees' broadcasts.

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool cynic, but baseball fans aren't as boorish as you portray them. Content producers go where the money is, and if people wanted beer-drenched nonsense, that's what they'd get. But that's not what they want, which is why you've seen a huge surge in stat-centric content over the last year or two.

Sorry for the rant!

He's the frat bro of the blogosphere. When his group cheered Werth's injury at Nats park, he made all Phillies fans look terrible in front of the rest of the baseball world, and by being a blogger, he made other bloggers look bad. (For instance, the article slap_bet referenced from the Daily Times attacked all bloggers for boorish behavior, not just Crossing Broad.)

Most of us -- definitely myself at least -- put in way too much time and effort to be dragged down by bottom-feeding cretins like Kyle Scott. That's why myself and others have reacted to his web presence negatively. He provides nothing of positive value to the community. While the Twitter pushback has been nice, it's a shame that it's so difficult to push bad people out of the community.

Manuel's fault mostly. Schwimer, for instance, never should have been put in a situation where he's out for a third consecutive inning in a tie game.

You've probably heard of Sabermetrics, then. I do a lot of stat analysis writing for ESPN's Phillies blog http://crashburnalley.com/

Good stuff. As someone who has had to put up with the complete misuse of statistics in my own field (baseball) it's nice to see someone tackle the terrible misunderstanding of statistics in Starcraft.

Does anyone else think Jeff Passan is a hack? by metatron207in baseball

Jeff Passan is a grade A hack. I've had the misfortune of interacting with him a few times and he's as douchey in private conversation as he is with his writing.
