I'd suggest finding somewhere outside near your dorm to reliably smoke. Trust me when I say there are more discreet smoke spots around campus then you realize, just have some common sense.

Now, that being said, for the purpose of answering your question completely: I will admit smoking in the dorms is very doable, but heavily depends on many things, especially the dorm and its layout.

For example, in Highland (my ex-dorm) it was surprisingly safe to toke in my bathroom, for various reasons. If you look at the floor plan (scroll down), you can see that the bathroom is shared between two rooms, thus there are 3 doors between your smoke and someone smelling it outside. Plus you could run the hot shower for a minute and the steam would carry the smoke out in >5 minutes.

Of course if your suitemates aren't ok with it you've got a serious problem, which is why it's crucial to have some goddamn common sense.

This is why I can safely say that I could probably smoke in ANY dorm on campus, the key is to be smart about it, and to think "is it worth the risk?"
